ADVENTURE OVERLAND - Display Area for members of this forum

May sound daft, but so am I. As I've already mentioned elsewhere, I'm off to the big 4x4 show in Germany in a couple of weeks (7-10 June) to drum up interest, plus because enthusiasts turn up from all over Europe, back to Germany again 31st August - 2nd September for the main meet of the year for 4x4 campers and overland expedition vehicles.

Any excuse for a party!

How do you find time to fit your Spanish tours in !!!

At the moment I don't. Ran that one in April and probably will again late October, but the two in between are proving impossible. Plus hopefully I shall be running another show in May or June next year (non-4x4 this time), so time is definitely at a premium. Keeps you on your toes though.

I'll be there, I'll also let the members of "YOC" Ystradgunlais Overland Club (my local club) know it's happening. Any clubs around other members worth telling?
I will be camping or dossing in the disco.

You a member of the Discovery Owners Club? I can't get on their forum, so mentioning the show on there would be good.

Not a problem Rich - a Display Vehicle daytime in the showground, then simply drive around to the Camping Meadow after 5pm. If I'm informed in advance how many Ivecos are likely to be there, I can rope off an area in the Camping Meadow pre-event. Plenty of time for that yet.

Awww, that's just mean

Don't diss the Merc, the only trouble mine had on the Landy rally was hoovering the Spanish dust out of it when I got home

Yes, there was rather a lot of that wasn't there? I would have though Merc door seals would be better that Land Rover, then again I don't think there is a door seal in existence to keep out all of the dust in desert-type regions, it gets everywhere!

Door seals don't help much when your driving with the window open, sometimes you have to leave the aircon off for the full atmosphere

Know exactly what you mean. It's very rare I will ever use aircon in various vehicles abroad as I hate the smell of it, plus I'd much rather feel the heat/humidity/smells of where I am. Too damn cold in England for 99% of the time, so love to savour the heat and sun on my driving arm when travelling overseas.

I think all the Ivecos are in the display vehicles area anyway , taking advantage of your generous offer for heavier vehicles

Of course you're right Rich, didn't think of that. They will stay in the showground area, no need to move.

Tell you what, it's already becoming apparent that the evenings are going to be interesting as the various groups get together to chew the cud. Hopefully it'll be like the 'good old days'. What do I mean by that?

Well, when I started running shows in 1997, you could go from party to party as clubs and groups of friends would make the effort to get together in the evenings, with some still in full swing well into the early hours. I popped up to the Land Rover Show in Driffield, East Yorkshire this April and the difference was amazing. By 10pm people were already turning in, so come midnight there was virtually nobody still up. IT WAS DEAD! Compare that to the Bushcraft Show last month, it was rocking in the evening with folk really out to have a good time. Same happened at the Allrad Show in Germany, that too had loads of life about it.

Time will tell, but as I say I've a sneaky feeling ADVENTURE OVERLAND will have some life about it as those participating whether 4x4 owners, bikers or the bushcraft/wilderness guys are all like-minded, outdoor-type people - here's hoping I'm right!

Of course we will come and visit the forum members area, Lisa is now well equipped with a tankard for beer and a tea mug with a karibiner handle clipped to her belt for any form of beverages that may be offered

We shall be there!!!!!!

tom i might be there as well,,,,,,,,things have changed down these here parts,,,,,,might bring the deli and fit some new tires while im there,,,,
