Found one all ready restored, or mostly. It is way too expensive tho, but I thought you might like a look.

That it is very challenging terrain. It looks more like a winch event than a route through Russia. I can see why you would want a larger tyre vehicle, Id of thought the Delcia could do it if you picked the right route but its is better to be prepared and if you think that you need a different vehicle then go get it.

I love how in the link, the fields pictured suddenly turn in to a bog when you drive through them. Quality muddin

Yes that is not typical Russia, but I would like to visit places, where foreigners have never been before.
I have russian friends, so I would join them...but I need proper 4x4.

Most people recommend Nissan Patrol GR 4.2 diesel...easy to buy spare parts in Russia, easy to modify..but hard to find this motorisation.

Im hearing ya.

My dad used to have one. It was a 4.2 diesel manual, but it was called a Safari. It had the taller roof on it, looked kind of funny, but put it in 1st gear and it would crawl over most things.

The Petrol 4.2's are not that bad either, they are more commonly matted to the auto in petrol form.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-N-Nissan-Patrol-4-2-Petrol-auto-GR-SGX-67-000-miles-/110750828574?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19c943881e#ht_1141wt_937 - This one is over priced but your can get alot of patrol for your money.

Most of the old Patrols had part time 4wd with a rear diff lock. Some have open diffs. One thing that i am sure of Is that they are HEAVY, and it will sink. What a vehicle tho.
