North East Morocco?

yes we have decided to go on this trip, at the weekend James and Gary asked us to come along, so on the Saturday night we had a chat and said we have always wanted to go, so has we had been with them for a few days, thought it best to go with people we knew, because if we did not, we might not get the chance again, so now looking forward to it and helping plan a route.

So have a few more bits to do to Sasha the camper.

Thanks for letting me join your trip, really looking forward to it. Happy with using Ceuta, it should work well , I think it makes sence as Tuggy suggests to get the tickets when we get there.
The link to the previous trip to the area was great thanks for that.

Glad to have you aboard. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your leg. One of the videos of the Porto's driving along a dry riverbed came from your area...looked challenging!

Back home now, well for 5days anyway so I can spend some time preparing the disco for the trip.

And hopefully put some effort into route planning.

I would also like to welcome, Silverfox and Mr and Mrs Roamingman to the team.
We have a good team of like minded people coming along which always makes trips more palatable

I have checked into satphone rental and if I cannot get one from work, the deal is:

-£500 deposit (I will handle)
-£10 rental per day (we can share the cost for the two weeks we are in Morocco)
-That entitles us to 10 minutes of free calls to landlines or mobiles per day, so we can each check in with home daily (might as well use our entitlement)
- Any calls above that are charged at £1.60 per minute (I will keep a little log book with the phone to track who may get a bit too chatty)

So, that is emergency comms covered.

That sounds like a plan, good to have it to call home and for emergencys if needed

What, major emergencies such as running out of wine? Don't know if they'll deliver to Morocco, then again if the price is right!

I was thinking more like running out of cold beer I can drink red wine warm lol

Time seams to be flying by at the minute for me. Before we know it we will be setting off on are great expedition 

Hi all any news on ferry choice yet ? And meeting point in Spain.
I've now decided to drive all the way in both directions and only cross Dover / Calais and what ever the Spain / Marocco
Ferry we use as time is not so much a factor with me the other event I was doing in early November is now off.

The plan is now Algeciras-Cueta.

Crossing either the afternoon of the 14th or morning of the 15th. Yoda will be planning the leg from Cueta to Taourirt.

Enjoy the drive down...wish I had the time to do the same.

And to All:  Final planning session at the Adventure Overland Show...probably near or in the beer tent.

Your not wrong when you say time is flying by, still it does focus the mind more that way. I concur with wideformat4x4 red wine should be warm, well room temperature at least. I'll probably go to Santander route and just drive down through Spain, is any one else going that route. See you at either the film weekend or at the Overland show.

I hope you guys are going to post loads of pics when you get back, so the rest of us can see what we've missed 

I am trying to talk my son into coming over from Canada and helping me shoot a video of the trip. He is in university doing a graphic arts degree, so I pitched it as a school project for him. Either way, will have a gopro cam mounted on my vehicle and will post some footage on youtube afterwards. I am sure there will be lots of stills as well.

I have a gopro camera at work snd was going to bring that along too !!

my lap top bust, and then the screen on note book broke, managed to set up a nother screen,
so now looking to get maps.

Guys looks like the planning is coming on nice....i am getting ready for my move back to the UK at the end of this month and trying to get the truck finished so i am flat out at the moment....lots going on..then 2-3 weeks getting back to the UK touring spain and cornwall-devon for a few days when we touch down....but i will defo be at the show so can catch up with you there...and give you upto date info......is there anything you need to know ? so i can ask down here.....

Actually, we are all taking different routes down from the UK will need to meet up in Algeciras before crossing over to Cueta. Any place you can recommend that will be easy for everyone to find? A campground not too far from the port maybe?

https://www.facebook.com/campingtp check out camping torre la penya its just past terifa about 6-7k along the road great little site and plenty of room good toilets and showers you can sit and look at morocco...then when your ready to move its 30mins to the port theres nothing as good as this within half an hour to the port...you won't be disappointed...
