| Does anyone own a Jeep 4x4 on here? I've come across quite a few Jeep wranglers on Salisbury plain doing some mild off roading but I've not seen many in Overland format, with modifications or even that many Cherokee's out and about when I think about it.
Where you all at?

| Too expensive on parts I would guess. I would say there would be a much bigger following in the UK if Land Rover wasn't made here. Big in most other countries, popular in off-road competitions too. This one was competing in the Rainforest challenge of Malaysia ... | |

| They do look great. When I have been out on Salisbury plain, there is a group of Jeep wrangler owners who are regularly out there. And from what I've seen they are quite capable. Most are the 4.0L and they do really well on the tracks. Same goes for this group of Cherokee owners. Nice looking trucks and sensible drivers. Got nothing on the Terracan tho...... (IMO) | |

| Jeep parts are not too bad on price as there are a number of specialists dealing solely with Jeep products, and a number of generic 4X4 suppliers who supply Jeep parts along with other marques; the issue is rooting them out. Normal servicing parts are not a problem as they are cheap, its when something major goes wrong that problems occur.
Many specialist importers import directly from the States, fine if you want a cylinder head, an engine rebuild set with pistons, rings, con rods, etc, but its when the gearbox goes wrong that issues arise.
Jeeps are similar to Land Rover in many ways, thay have a number of inherent problems such as axle bearings and bushes which wear quickly and these need specialised knowledge to repair properly, and with such inherent problems the costs rise.
Body panels are 10 a penny from breakers or directly imported, and many are basic panels which can be repaired by proficient people with basic welding knowledge, and bodywork skills. | |

| I love the look of the Jeeps. The LWB Jeep Wrangler is really appealing to me if a little bit crude on road. Will be good to see some Jeep Owners here in the future. | |
