| As the saying goes "those who can do the rest just sit and talk about it"
It's nice to see on here we have those who can do and then talk about it afterwards imparting their knowledge to us mere mortals
If some think thats self promoting then more fool them.
Keep up the good work lads !!

I've spent the last 20 years working and playing in the region, and am always happy to help. HOWEVER i dont tend to post said help on forums much these days as there are too many " 2 weeks holiday a year arm chair overlanders" out there who either want me to impart all this knowledge and experiance FOC or slagg me off with the old " you only post stuff to encorage people to book with you" insults.
I appreciate what you have said on this forum. Genuine helpful information, even If I can only put it to use 2 weeks of the year. TJ

| Mmmmm, now let's see - go out of your mind sitting by a pool in Torremolinos for a fortnight surrounded by hordes of pissed-up idiots ... or explore the great world about you by utilising the ol' off-roader and see a bit of real nature/culture/history? It may only be two weeks, but it's what you make of those precious 336 hours that's important! Each to their own I realise, but when you look at the choice in the cold light of day, there really is no contest. ... it's the pool and all those bikini-clad babes for me!!!!!! | |

| I hope i have not offend you TJ with the 2 week comment? i merely was trying to make the point that they dont respect mine or many other tour companys comments on forums because we charge for our services and thus dont want to encourage solo travellers to go it alone and to keep these places all to ourselves but they dont flame people for spamming equpiment or parts do they? | |

| It is a grey area, but again we all know where we're coming from, so no problem whatsoever on here. Simply because an individual is a trader shouldn't preclude them from conversing with others or imparting their considerable knowledge. Carry on as per ... | |

| Hi Ok have started some more planning which for various reasons has included a total change of plan we are still going to France then heading down to the Pyrenees. This will all be fairly gentle, we will be going at the end of july and have managed to beg borrow and steel three weeks off work. We are crossing using the Euro tunnel (Tesco vouchers made this cheap) then provisional plans of the Loire, Vendee to the Orthez Bearn in the pyrenees to watch a round of the French off road championship and tour into Spain and the pyrenees then a run back up with a stay near Paris and then a visit to Parc Asterix for the kids, especially this big one. A big thanks to the kids for putting up with Dad bouncy around them around the countryside. Do not if anyone is planning anything similar but would be happy to meet up with folks. Wil keep posting ATVB Derek | |

| Just came across this website tonight as part of planning http://about-france.com/tourism/no-tolls-routes.htm also seems a good way of keeping costs down as not in mad rush to get anywhere. Have been trying to get roof rack for Henry as ever with Henry total lack of affordable/second hand options, so old halfords top box has been refettled, two new clips off ebay along with new u-bolts to fit Henry's roofbars, a lot cheaper than new rack. By the way girls like to give car a name and the terracan got called Henry. This week end help friend change cambelt, full service and handbrake needs sorted also two new tyres need fitting. Sat nav bought the other week to help with nav but maps will still be in car. Next weekend fit basic storage system. Del | |

| See you're determined to make an ass of yourself! Well, it's a tad different to the type of overland travel that most of us here are used to, but nevertheless it's still overlanding. | |

| Working on Henry yesterday with mechanic friend who is helping/teaching as we go new tyres, done ok timing belt/service ok, then the ouch, have been feeling vibration through the accelerator over the last week which has turned out to be the rear prop shaft and front uj so need replacing onto macks and dismantlers websites possibility of one not too far away also possibility of replacing with new will depend on costs, especially when on a tight budget.
