Does anybody on here have an idea of the load area of a Defender 90 pick up ?
Ive looked on various Land Rover websites and I can glean the overall sizes but the only reference I can find to the lengh of the load bed is around 980mm with an addendum adding 200mm more if the spare is relocated.

I was hoping to cover and mount a roof tent on the top of the platform created but most roof tents seem to be around 1200mm so not sure if I could fit one with out it overhanging at the rear.

Any help on dimensions of a 1990 Defender 90 pick up greatly recieved

According to this it is 1144mm:

I have seen a photo of a 90 with a tent on the pickup on a 4x4 touring website, looked for it but couldn't find it, found these instead:

Think I would prefer to have it opening to the side so you can still access the pickup bay even if it over hangs the back.

Ah! brilliant thanks very much for this the diagramme is much more detailed than the ones I found on the net.
It really looks like this is doable, and yes I had thought of having access to the tent on the side as i was hoping to use the tailgate as a make shift table or cooking platform.

It does look from the pictures that a small overhang on the rear is needed somewhere around 100mm I would think which in reality is nothing, although you wouldn't want it on the end of youre nose.

Depending what cab you have on the 90 remember to leave room to get your hand between the cab and the tent to do up the zip. It is quite tight on my Ranger so have had to fasten a bit of string to the zip to help open and close it.

A piece of string? Seems that even with a Ranger you can't get away from Land Rover mods. Razz
