| Hi Tom Apart from all the L Rover shows being basically the same----getting a bit same old same old, they are quite an expensive weekend------------we wanted to meet an old friend from Holland at the Peterborough show this year, but it was silly price to get in for the weekend, so we missed seeing him, as you well know we are not in the Land Rover circle any more------we have moved into a more affordable circle Nigel & Pamala | |

| Looks interesting Tom, I will certainly be out for it. Having only been in the UK a bit under 2 years I guess I am not as jaded about the current crop of 'corporate' LR shows, but I do understand the complaints. Happy to support something a bit different. So count me in... | |

Again I aim to be different from the rest, so it will interesting to see what the visitors will think. N & P - You won't be aware yet, but as part of the pricing policy for LandyLive! I am offering all non-UK registered vehicles half price admission/camping - they do have ferries to pay for after all. You see ... different!

| Thought I'd let you see the information about the catering and bar area I'm currently sending out to traders, clubs and regular campers for have booked in advance for LandyLive! + National 4x4 Show + British Off-Road Motorsport Show
Your thoughts peeps?
HELP … WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
As this inaugural 3-in-1 event (contractually scheduled for the next 10 years!!!) is all about providing ‘value for money’ and ‘something different’, you will find below information about the catering and evening entertainment provided over the course of the weekend.
The bar for instance is significantly cheaper than most pubs, so please support us by leaving your BBQ’s - if only for an hour or so - to show you are backing what we’re trying to achieve.
Like a broken record, I’ve been going on for ages about LandyLive! being an event for ‘us enthusiasts’ … basically an alternative to being ripped off at numerous other Land Rover/4x4 shows over admission, camping and catering. Plus of course I’m providing something that you have been requesting for years. Well this is it, your show’s finally arrived!
Of course you must still have a communal BBQ with your mates, but remember that supplying live music and low-priced beer isn’t easy to achieve, so if you can … PLEASE JOIN US!!!
Tom McGuigan [Event Director]
P.S. Club officials – please pass this information on to your members.
BREAKFAST Sat & Sun 7.00 – 11.00
The ‘Breakfast Room’: Served within the licensed indoor bar area at LandyLive! (yes … actual tables and chairs, knives & forks!!!) the set breakfast @ £4.50 will comprise of – 2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, hash brown and of course the all-important baked beans. That’ll set you up for the day!
DAYTIME CATERING Sat 10.00 – 17.00, Sun 10.00 – 16.00 (at sensible prices!)
Gurkha Field Kitchen: Delicious Nepalese curries prepared/served by ex-Gurkha Regiment servicemen.
Exotic Meats: Burgers with a difference … bison, camel, crocodile, goat, eland, impala, kangaroo, kudu, llama, ostrich, springbok, venison, water buffalo, wild boar, wildebeest, zebra and wagyu(kobe) beef!
The Mexican Bean: Hot 'n' spicy chicken/beef/pork burritos and nachos, plus vegetarian/vegan options.
Wild Oven: Wood fired fare (i.e. quality pizzas) cooked on board a Land Rover Defender mobile oven!
Churros Susanna: Dripping with chocolate, these tasty treats are the Spanish equivalent of doughnuts.
Crêpe Escapes: Savoury crêpes incl. Hawiian, Mediterranean, goats cheese & caramelised red onion, plus all the usual sweet favourites.
EVENING CATERING Fri & Sat 18.00 – midnight (again, at sensible prices!)
Gurkha Field Kitchen: Delicious Nepalese curries prepared and served by ex-Gurkha Regiment servicemen.
The Mexican Bean: Hot 'n' spicy chicken/beef/pork burritos and nachos, plus vegetarian and vegan options.
Wild Oven: Wood fired fare (sorry – only open Fri evening + daytime Sat & Sun, not open Saturday evening)
Churros Susanna: Dripping with chocolate, these are the Spanish equivalent of doughnuts.
LICENSED BAR Fri 16.00 – midnight, Sat & Sun 12.00 – midnight (better than pub prices!)
Real ale @ only £2.50 per pint, larger/cider @ only £3.00 per pint … plus wines & spirits.
Disco (or even karaoke if you’re brave … or mad!) Friday evening, disco + live band Saturday evening.
LIVE MUSIC Sat evening, early until midnight
Playing three sets Saturday evening, we present Midlands legends Skawaddy. As their name suggests, ska and reggae is their speciality, but 40 years in the music business means they play everything from rock & roll and punk to middle-of-the-road covers. “Bundles of energy” best sums up this band – bet you drop before they do!

| An appeal for anyone who will be camping over at LandyLive! Wonder if you can help? Just to be different, I’m going to be rigging up a “4x4 Cinema” at LandyLive! next weekend (nothing too fancy, just a room with a 40” flat screen … don’t expect a 3D IMAX set up), so basically I need some additional 4x4-related DVDs as at the moment I have very few. Me being ‘of an age’, all my stuff is still on video! Okay, so I’m an old git!
DVDs can be competitions such as Camel Trophy, Paris-Dakar/Dakar, Rainforest Challenge, or Land Rover/4x4 related or whatever, as long as they are professional productions and not wobbly home footage with loads of swearing (that just wouldn’t work!!!) then please bring them with you. Also they can’t be advertising specific companies, otherwise it would become too specific (an entire range of roof racks in specific colours also wouldn’t work). Folk want action, not boredom!
IMPORTANT: All owners must label both the case and the actual DVD, otherwise it could all get rather silly!
If you can help, please let me know. I shall be in the office to receive emails - 4x4trading@talk21.com - up until noon Tuesday 3rd June, thereafter I can only be contacted via mobile - 07958 216266
Cheers,
Tom Mc | |

Merci! I gather you can't make it? I just assumed you many be able to. Never mind, there's always Adventure Overland in September. Me I'm off to Stratford-upon-Avon in the morning, so no more posts until next week. Yoda just phoned me, he and SWMBO are already there, plugged in and supping a cuppa Rosie. Keen or wot? A CRYPTIC NOTE: See you down there peeps. You know who you are - get to the gate, ask Russ to radio me, I'll sort out your passes. See ya all, just hope the rain Gods are kind to us.

| Well, only made it out for Sunday, so missed the soggy Saturday. Did enjoy it though. Was great seeing all the old faces, chatting to traders and having a bit of a planning session for Morocco over some very cheap beers. Have to say I would be happy to see the Gurkha Kitchen again! Thanks Tom! | |

| Well, now I'm back in the saddle after an exhausting trip to Germany for the off-road show (exhausting because it was party every night!!!) I started hunting today for a photo or two of the tonado. Low and behold, one of our own captured it just before it touched down. Kieran of Free Spirit 4x4 snapped this photo of Gordon (Auto Marine Improvement) and Mike (Bushpig Bushgear) with the little bugger forming in the background. Little did we know that 15 minutes later it would tear through the racecourse! To repeat what I just posted on FB ... The tornado took out the white 8m x 4m aluminium pop-up marquee in the background, then the 12m x 9m tubular steel-framed marquee in front of the bar, then after knocking over several cast iron benches, it kicked right across the racecourse's circuit, slightly damaged a jump, then sped off into the distance. Weird!!!
Thankfully nobody was hurt. Thing is, despite it wrecking £1,600 worth of marquees, I’m just grateful because property can be replaced, we can’t. C’est la vie!
