HUBB UK 2014 - Donington Park - 19th to 22nd June

Hi All,

Thanks once again to Tom for the permission to post on here and for all the support from you guys at the HUBB UK event a few weeks ago - especially Kevin and Dilys who did a fantastic job as part of the volunteer crew. You can read some of the feedback we've received on this page.

Online registration for HUBB UK 2014 is now live and you'll see we're making a variety of improvements to make next year's event even better.

To maintain the kind of atmosphere we've been nurturing over the last 13 years, we still won't be offering day tickets. However, we are introducing 2-day event passes for the Thursday and Friday or the Saturday and Sunday. The best value on those and the full 4-day passes is to be had by registering before the end of August. All the pricing info is on the event page via the link above.

Presenters get free registration, so if you have a travelling tale to tell or technical expertise to share do please consider giving a presentation, demo or workshop.

I've already contacted Tom about this forum and/or the Adventure Overland Show having a free stand at the event again. Horizons Unlimited will be having a stand at Adventure Overland in September, so you'll have the opportunity to come and talk to me in person if you'd like to know more about HUBB UK and how you can get involved.

In the meantime, here's a brief flavour of what HUBB UK was like this year....

A quick reminder for those of you planning to attend the HUBB UK 2014 event....

Today is the last opportunity to register online for an event pass at the lowest rate (£45 for a full 4-day pass or £30 for a 2-day).

The cut-off will be around 9pm this evening, after which the discounts reduce.

Good bit of film that with quite a few faces I recognised. Love the sticker on what looked like a top box: One wife ... livid!!!  

I will definitely be going back. I really do enjoy the format and hopefully the 4x4 crowd starts to get more involved.

We are booked, and will be looking for all the 4x4's for a parade and pick 1st 2nd and 3rd, will be finding some prizes. So hope to have more 4x4's at the HUBB

An update on the HUBB event, I will be their and organizing a competition for Overland travel vehicles, the will be prizes for the top three. Ask for yoda.
So if you think you have a great truck, why not come along and see like minded people.
The HUBB as been going for a long time and has events all over the word. You will see from the web site it as all ways been for bikes or two wheel transport, it was only last year that they started to allow 4x4's. but you will also see that their a lot of Travelers from around the world giving talks of their travels. I and thee others who went to Morocco last year will be showing a video and talk of are trip. If you have a interesting tale why not come along and share, your experiences.

Like last year the forum and AO2014 are hosting a stand I have volunteered  to man it with a few others as I know Tom and some other forum members are travelling to Germany for the Bad Kiss event which coincides.

On the stand will be handing out leaflets and information on the AO 2014 show, Travel 4x4 forum and Landy Live 2015.

Last year Tom single handedly collated together pictures and banners etc to publicise the forum and the event to try and get the mainly bike orientated visitors to attend AO2013.

This year we would like contributions from forum members of pictures and maybe stories to advertise both the forum and show.
So come on guys it's your forum help us to publicise it because the more members the more travel information and advice we can pass on to each other !

Hi all this is an update for the show, we have acquired a stand for the forum to promote the forum also the Overland Travel show, and are asking if any members would like to come and help out and have a great weekend. Or come and have a tea and a chat with us.
I am also organizing a competition for the best 4x4 in show their will be some prizes, so you could just come along and show of your pride and joy, their are lots of seminars of people talking about their trips around the world, mainly bikers but their are a few talking about 4x4's, if you are thinking about a trip around the world or Europe, you will be able to get some very good advice, and meet up with some great people who like you love to travel.

Good there's tea and coffee at your stand, Will there be cakes ?

Do I drive our rig to your stand to enter the comp ?

I am sure we can organize some cakes, will have more information about the comp later, but it will be on the show field, I believe.

Hi Guys. When do most people arrive & leave the HUBB event - I notice after booking camping is available on the Wednesday night and also on the last (sunday) night.

Any tips on the best area to camp?

I should be pulling in about midday on Wednesday. Kevin will be there ahead of me I believe. The camping area isn't huge so just depends on whether you want to be near the toilets/showers...which also may put you close to the noiseiest area...or back in a corner. Actually given the motorcycle raceway and the steady stream of cargo flights taking off over our heads...quiet spots aren't really a huge option.

Now Iv'e found out there could be cake at the show I managed to re arrange a couple of thing so should be able to make it Thursday and Friday to help out on the stand.

Well, almost HUBB time! Weather not looking too bad. I will be heading off tomorrow (Wednesday) and meet Kevin who should be there today I believe. Make sure we stake out a good spot for the stand.

I have been spending my last few evenings editing together a new version of all the unused footage from our N.E. Morocco trip last year. The Youtube version is fine, but just an overview. Our presentation is at 13:00 on Friday and we have an hour to fill...so figured a 13 minute video would leave a lot of empty time to chat intelligently. So now we will have a 40-minute version with mostly unseen footage and more info about the actual nuts and bolts of the trip.

Also looking forward to having a few beers, getting the maps out and talking through our return to N.E. Morocco next year, the Grand Erg Occidental crossing and whatever Gary has up his sleeve for Europe...

Well, back from HUBB 2014 and had a great time as always. The weather certainly cooperated! Got to attend quite a few presentations on various adventure travel topics as well as present our film from our N.E. Morocco trip last year. Handed out lots of leaflets for AO 2014 and generally promoted the forum and 4x4 adventure travel. So I would say mission accomplished.
