FORUM MEETS IN 2014

Hi y'all,

Think the time has come for some official FORUM MEETS ... a general get-together as an excuse to chew the cud and down a few!

I suggest we have four in the course of the year. Two will obviously be at my events, as that's the time folk far and wide come together anyway. The third I suggest is at a bushcraft show as that would fit in with our type of outdoor lifestyle, and the fourth (a Spring meet) is anybody's guess! So here goes:-

????? March 2014  I have suggested March as it is a pretty dead month 4x4 show-wise, and after is Easter and the start of the show season proper. How about a greenlane/camping type of get-together over in Wales? The weather can be lovely, although at night it can also be bloody cold ... so it'll test our camping kit! Merely my suggestion, any other ideas as to when and where this fourth meet could be held?

Note: I attended this last year for the first time - it was brilliant! It's very laid back event with so many different types of bushcraft skills that you can either watch or get involved with. For me the 'pièce de résistance' was the sing song around two cauldrons of fire on the Saturday night until the early hours.  Musical instruments kept appearing, as did copious amounts of bring-your-own alcohol (no surprise there!!!) all backed up by the resident scrumpy cider bar. It really was great fun. There's a big crossover between the 4x4, overland and bushcraft communities, that's why I think this event would be perfect for a FORUM MEET.

Between end of September right up to our first official meet in March (assuming it is March) is the time folk tend to go abroad, plus of course Christmas has a bearing, so I suggest leaving this period open.

Sounds like a great idea to me I would only be able to do 3 out of the 4 this year though !

We will definitly make 2, have to have a think about outhers, weekends from up Here in Scothishland is a long way to travel, but if we can work it along with somethink else a mybe!!!

How about something in March? Okay, I suggested Wales, but equally it could be somewhere in the north or south.

Strata Florida sounds good to me, nearest I'm going to get to the 'other Florida' for a while.
