| There is some wonderful news from Portobelo in Panama for the PanAmericana travellers. Starting on October 15th 2013, a RoRo Ferry will be maintained on weekly basis, between Portobelo in Panama and Cartagena in Colombia. Read our website: www.geocruiser.nl/gap.htm (Google Translate is provided on this website) Or go straight to: www.sanblasferry.com/index.htmlHappy Trails, Rob and Nettie | |

San Blas Ferry Trip Report - Ferry was advertised to depart Portobelo, Panama on 15th October - Actual departure date was Wed 23rd October - Ferry was advertised as a 24-hour trip - Actual arrival was after 6 days in total onboard!!! - No dock in Cartagena, we went back and forth between Cartagena and Baranquilla. - Ferry is very old, run-down and dirty, no shower on board and only two toilets. No air conditioning and no beds. We had to sleep on hammocks outside for the entire 6 days, it was raining - Bikes could not be unloaded, there isn't a dock to unload them onto. They had to use small boats to bring the motorcycles onshore. | |

| Hi Ismail11, You had a horriffic experience. For future travellers, like myself, I hope the ferry will change into a better and trustworthy passing of the Darien Gap. Were there any cars or trucks aboard the ferry? I read some other blog about this: Maiden Trip of the San Blas ferry. Greetz, Rob | |

| 6 days??? That's not funny. I know everyone experiences hiccups when travelling, quite often it can add a little unexpected spice to the journey, but that's just terrible. Hope you have better luck Rob. | |

It was not fun, for sure. - RobGT wrote:

No cars, only 3 motorbikes. Lucky, because we had no way to load/unload. - RobGT wrote:
