LRO Billing - event postponed until 10-12 August 2012

Just been checking out the prices wow bit on the expensive side to camp, may look for an alternative close buy and just go on the Saturday, got some friends coming from the Landy Rally so it will be good to see them again

Well, for the first time in years, almost certainly I won't be booking a Trade Stand pitch this year. Trade Stand fees are too high, the day admission amd camping fees are too high, price of burgers is too high (charging £1 for a can of pop is extracting the urine), fuel, etc. etc.

Will visit but that's it - had enough.

Don't blame you guys for feeling that way - everywhere seems to charging ridiculaous prices now. Just out for profit I reckon and nowt else.

It does appear to be really expensive, the camping costs seem to be extortionate.

Does anyone know of any camp sites near the area as I still want to go to meet up with some friends but not really fussy if its 10 miles or so away

Whilst I agree with Tom that trade stand prices are expensive, and remember it is not just stand price we have to pay, throw in security fencing, marquee hire, about 1,000 miles of fuel and it comes to a mind boogling sum.

However have just looked at the bushcraft show and they want even more money for a trade stand. As for the Cliffhanger show just forget it.

Price for 2 adults and two children with 3 nights camping at the Bushcraft show £220. Billing I can not readily get equivalent figure. Camping according to LROshow includes entry, camping according to Billing Aquadrome is £65 for three nights.

Day ticket for family is £30

That makes Billing look cheap!

OK sometimes finding actual prices can be a bit awkward, it is possible I might not have found right prices so am willing to be corrected.

I'm pretty sure I read camping for the weekend was about £80 but don't quote me on that add in admission and if you want a go on the off road course and I think a rough figure was around £135.

That's much nearer the mark, although like Brendan I'm on the other side of the fence so to speak (no pun intended) so haven't paid for standard camping in donkey's years.

As it happens, talking to traders at the Bushcraft Show, the equivilent at LRO was indeed a lot more expensive, but believe me the entertainment was very good (famous speakers, demos, etc.) being a country park with wide open spaces the organisers had to hire in everything - toilets, showers, etc. which I must credit them for, they were 1st class - plus the real ale was from a local brewery at £2.50 a pint ... result!

Also not a hint of security problems there, unlike Billing which is like the Wild West by comparison.

Bad news travels fast eh?

As it happens, the new dates are better for me in some ways, so I'm not too fussed. However, this will impact on the holiday period big time with a lot of folk already booked up and on holiday elswhere. I can see it making a BIG difference.
