Stuck in the snow under the Northern Lights Empty
PostSubject: Stuck in the snow under the Northern Lights   Stuck in the snow under the Northern Lights EmptySat Oct 22, 2011 8:57 pm

Hi,

I'm not sure if I should post this here, so please let me know if it should go somewhere else! Smile

Last WE my friend and I went for a WE trip and we got stuch in deep snow, from 23h to about 4am when we gave up and decided to sleep it off. Then we continued from 8am after a few hours sleep and managed to get unstuck before 12h Smile

The good thing was the location (in the mountains, by a glacier), on an F road (which are reserved to modified high 4x4) which (I realized later) was marked as impassable. So it was really quiet and no car came to the rescue, so we had to do it ourselves. Ho, I almost forgot the best thing, the Northern Lights Wink

I will do the following day later.

Yeah its the right place to post this.

Those photo's looks epic. The jeep looks great. When you've got the time do a post about your jeep with the mods in the Other Marques section. It looks like a beast and would be good to know what you have done to it.

What camera do you use? Those pictures look very, very clear.

The Jeep, so far I haven't done much to it, I bought it a few month ago pretty much that, I just fixed a few things on it, no major changes. It's a 2.5L petrol engine (gutless, needless to say) on 35". Standard gear ratio which is a little annoying but I drive gently so it's ok. I have no idea how much it has been lifted. The flares are, I believe, made here in Iceland by a company that specializes in flares and other bits for Jeeps, I think they export them too. What I need to do on it is fix a leak at the bottom of the transfer case, just the joint I hope, and add some lights (front and back, for off road driving). I'm also looking for better tires in the snow as those Mud tires get fat in the middle when deflated and not the bottom, so it doesn't make much wider and I go too deep in the snow.

The camera is an old (but very much loved) Canon 20D and I mostly use a Canon 17-40L with it. I also have a Sigma 70-300 and a Canon 50m 1.8.

Thanks!
