| Basicaly over the past 2 winters with all the road salt and grit, muck and dirt my rear axle and a fue surrounding components were starting to look abit tarnished, orange, a fue "flakey" bits. Im not much of a fan of this so I decided to do something about it. Local companys quoted £70 for the rear half of my vehicle to be sprayed. I cleaned the rear underside of my vehicle, used a wire brush on the fue patches that looked flakey and the brushed off the last of the bits. I bought a 500ml of Hammerite smooth black and a paint brush for £12.99 and set out to paint the rear axle, panhard rod, anti-roll bar and a fue other metal components of the rear section of the vehicle for the next 3 hours. I applyed 2x coats of paint and im fairly happy with the result. Before: After: Hopefully this will help the axle, chassis and other components against road salt&grit and off road mess. I will be doing the front IFS next with the SuperPro bushes so ill post pics when done. TJ | |

Ha Ha I waxoyl mine every year I bought a cheap compressor from costco for £100. Worth the investment if your going to do it more than once good job wth a brush though | |

| you should have found a good pressure washer and blasted it first that way it takes a lot of loose bits off and gets where you cant with a wire brush,,,,then do what you did,,,but what you have done will help combat the effects of winter,,,,, | |

| Ta, all. The chassis is still there, im pritty sure. It would be better to get a compressor and spray it on like you mentioned but this was basicaly a test to see if i could treat the concerned areas for less than £20. I will probably get the whole underside done next year, but for the moment in time its not really needed as the vehicle is only 7 yrs old. Its still good to know that you can still do something on a budget. Jas | |
