| Yep, strange why prople do that, happens on every forum.
Got to agree about the profiles. Then again, if they stick around it gets interesting hearing about what folk have done and what they are good at. Not everyone likes to be up front about their life - fair enough, each to their own.

| It happens for many reasons, internet security being the biggest problem.
Having been the target of criminals for just over two years i can understand it, it is very easy for anyone to enter a public forum or site and attain considerable information on anyone.
Example: you post a picture of yourself and your vehicle, the number plate is visible, a quick DVLA enquiry check along with £2.50 secures the owners name and address along with the picture. A quick check on Google Earth gives an idea of what sort of income a person has from their property, vehicles, and the cloners floodgates are opened.
It was not until they tried it with me that i realised how easy it is to do, and just how many ways thay have of doing it.
Obviously i am not going to publicise all the methods, but with a photo or picture you can get most forms of I.D.

This happenes alot in the motor trade, mostly high performance + german cars etc. Auto trader, auction sites, none of them help. You dont supply the reg and all of a sudden no one will buy because they think it is stolen, then you supply the reg plate and it gets stolen. All i can say is store evrything securely and lock evrything up.

| Or drive old 'uns like me that nobody want to clone! That said, I never go anywhere without immobilising the steering wheel. Not foolproof I know, but at least it's a deterrent. Evidently Range Rover Classics are a favourite of ram-raiders as the door locks and ignition are easy to override. Life ain’t fair. | |
