Here's one. This would never happen with a Land Rover, then again a thousand and one other things could go wrong. The point is, no vehicle is infallible!
The 'mishap' I'm referring to occurs to a Toyota at exactly 5 minutes into the video.
Opps! Edited this post: Another CV knackered at 7:45.

Two different cameras film the same crossing.

Hi Goldrig - haven't looked at your vids yet, but did you see my comment about the loonies in the You Tube video I posted? Just in case you didn't -
FFS, they are Aussies, what the hell do you expect? All true off-roaders around the world know they're mad, so let them have fun. Yes they could have modified their Jeeps, 'cruisers, whatever, but no ... they wanted to have fun in virtually standard vehicles. Why not? It's their money, let them take their steeds to the limits.
Go for for it gentlemen, us here in England understand. Down under you're all as mad as box of frogs, we know that - so ENJOY!!!
Say no more!

Now having looked ...
Don’t blame you ‘going for it’, river currents can be lethal. Friend of mine in England - an experienced off-roader I must add - drove through an innocuous little ford where the narrow river was flowing a bit more than normal. Low and behold, the current just picked up his vehicle and within seconds it started floating down the river.
The mad thing was that he was driving a Nissan Patrol (2nd generation), so it was hardly a lightweight Suzuki!
Fire, police, ambulance … and of course journalists, they all turned up! He was fine, he ego wasn’t. The point is …
No.1 - Nature will always win.
No.2 - Always drive a Land Rover, because you will never float down rivers, because of the crap door seals, it’ll instantly fill with water so you will stay in contact with terra firma!!! No.3 - 4x4 folk the world over are all as mad as each other - that's a fact!

Okay, leading on from the Aussie video -
Me, I've done daft things like mud-bogging in Florida, but I've never done anything like what I'm about to suggest you look at.
Best pick the video up from 14:04, then you’ll see the crazy guys (who I have to say are what ‘off-road’ is all about - just havin’ fun … in any language/any country), and after the mad amateurs you will see what the professionals with sponsorship from companies like Monster are capable of. They have the cash, look what happens when they have ago at the ‘impossible’ Mud Run. Say no more. Money talks! The others are in it, not to win it, but purely for fun. Personally, I’ve always been in the ‘go for it, who cares about winning anything’ camp, far more fun!
No spectacular 4x4 fails...just some nice Australian scenery, an old Land Rover (usually travelling with a Toyota LC) and some great music from Alberto and the Fried Bikinis.
