Portugal? Where to go?

A group of us are going to be driving north to south across Portugal in early April. We will be on our way from Santander to Tarifa. We will have three days to make the trip. Anyone have any suggestions on places we should see, or routes to drive?

We started at the Serra Da Malcata Nature reserve which is near Penamacor. The reserve has loads of tracks to explore, and if you go see Manuela at the reserve office she can give you loads of info about the reserve.

Don't bother spending too much time on the South Coast unless you like to be stuck in traffic and surrounded by tourists....

Thanks for the input. Given the short amount of time, we will probably just hits several national parks as we move south for a quick tour, then back on the tar. Will have a look at the one you mentioned.

With the time restraint don't think we are going to have too much time in Portugal which is a pity but don't really want to take our eyes off the prize which of course is Morocco.

I think I'm going to use the detour to see if Portugal is worth a bespoke trip later on in the year !

Yep...I am just thinking that we can just have a look around as we move south rather than just barrelling down the motorways.

Makes sence, the views from the motorway are pretty good but like you say barreling past them at 65mph takes the edge off a little
