| Some great ideas there in the videos I particularly like the external mounted kitchen and the folding step what a great idea means no more standing on the seats with the door open to get stuff on and off the roof rack. | |

As I said originally it will be a daily driver with the odd weekend excursion in the uk and possible france still not sure if I would bring it on the morocco trip I did buy the frontera for that it may not have the luxury bits on it but it is robust and just keeps plodding along and all the bits on it were added with the mind of extended travel so I would have to start from scratch with the disco tbc yet although saying that it was at the back of my mind to use it for the trip and keep the Fronty for lanning and playing in the mud. On the servicing front for the disco I will be using the local garage my business uses and drop the car off there on a regular basis to give it a good going over (bearings etc) so if I do use it for morocco hopefully most bits and bobs should be sorted before I set off and an oil and filter change at yours last knockings before setting off to the sandy bit. But I now have a back up vehicle should anything untoward happen between now and September ( like the car taking a swim before I set off )

| Waiting for the DVLA to issue a new no plate as the one on it was personal and the owner is having it on his new Rangy TDO 4RSEY
Should pick it up Wednesday after a service and valet

| Well some people say its the best of the bunch and some just dislike them, too much elec trickery to go wrong only time will tell. Thinking about it it will make a much more comfortable ride for the morocco trip but there will be much work to be done before hand to minimise problems that will occur or should I say might occur | |

| Yeah I saw that too, I took into account what was written and also comments from 2other owners I know. I'm hoping all the little foibles have been sorted out by the end of the production run.
Reading the op I think it's a defender and the old TDI vs TD5 what was the best for over landing argument that was in question sorry for hi jacking the thread

| When I used to shoot on the field target circuit a guy had a Delica kitted out with an external shower and a built in kitchen unit well impressive and I believe they are good off road not sure on fuel consumption though | |

| Hmmm...interesting. Landrover seems to still be hanging in there. Will be interesting to see when the new Defender, whatever it turns out to be, comes out if it can inspire future overlanders...when they become cheap enough to go bashing about in. | |

| It would seem "made in England " still holds some kudos then.
But like you say in the not too distant future when the older less technicaly advanced vehicles have all succomend to tin worm and all thats left is the newer vehicles with too many ecu's what's the overland community going to do you can only rebuild. 200 or 300 dti engine and gearbox so many times.

| People will overcome many of their pre-conceived ideas of electronics, many will take the trouble to understand them, and we will have a lot of overlanders in vintage or veteran vehicles. | |

| Olly, I've checked with a friend that lives within the LEZ. He bought my 1985 110 CSW 300TDI about 6 years ago (page 6 on "Tents wot you got" ) He said as long as you have windows in the car and it's not a converted Hard top you are exempt. Also, if you keep it as a 12 seater you can claim it's a mini bus therefore avoiding the Congestion charge as well. He is thinking of selling it soon as family commitments demand, so will be open to sensible offers. I must have spent somewhere in the region of £30k on it over the years, engine, gearbox, aircon, lockers front and back, roof tent etc etc, obviously this never pays back on the selling price, but it ticks most of the boxes for an overland trip already. | |

You would think so.... BUT... i'm currently pleading with the LEZ monkies as to getting my 1992 110 SW LEZ exempt... i've sent in pictures of it, and the V5, but as the VIN shows it not to be a LR produced station wagon (even though it is) they're not interested. It took 3 people I contacted before they realised it wasn't a double cab... even though they had pictures of it.
