Rather annoyingly somebody has removed our copywrite from the image so it is not traceable to our website.

Didn't think copyright lettering could be removed? Rather defeats the object of the exercise, bet it is annoying.

Copyright has to be registered and if someone posts this or any other picture on another site and they can then copyright it instead.

Its a newspapers favourite current scam:

They hold competitions for photographs, or simply leave an E-mail address for readers to send pictures in and the readers blindly send them in, the newspaper then copyrights them in their name, they store them in their digital image library and use them when they want; for free; they also sell them to other media outlets and for things such as local history books.

Learnt something new there - nice one!

You can actually copyright them for free using common law as opposed to copyright law which costs and is merely a system to extract money from copyright, and once copyrighted you have to display the fact they are copyrighted.
