Off to Morocco again 23rd June 2012

At fairly short notice me and my travelling friend, Adam (aka The Rusty Rhinos) are setting off to Morocco again. This time we are also venturing into the Western Sahara.

When we set off, you will be able to track us live online as our car is GPS equipped (so you will have a much better clue where we are then we ever would - we use trusty maps )

Yet again we are raising money for our regular charity - The Mercy Corps. We did not expect to raise much this year given the current economic climate but we are very happy to say that we have raised just over half of our £1000 target

This one will yet again be done in our trusty 1963 SWB Land Rover S2a. It is a bit battered now but I am sure it will prove to be a sturdy steed yet again.

Wow, what can I say, the response to the fundraising of this has been way more than we expected. With 2 commercial sponsors and lots of donations from friends, family and randomers we have just hit our £1000 target Of course the further we can pass that the better for the charity so we hope the donations continue to come in. Very chuffed indeed!

Well. A bit of a delayed start - terminal engine failure. We are back in the UK but the Landie is still in France. We are hoping to get it back in the UK FOC in August. Meanwhile I am rebuilding another engine ready to drop in so hopfeully we can set off again in September

Just read about your troubles on your website - what a bugger! That Drew bloke turned out to be ace, clearly you had a bit of luck on your side getting to know him.

Now I'm aware of this and the fact you're off again in September, do you want me to reimburse you for ADVENTURE OVERLAND or is it your intention to return by weekend of 6-7 October?

I will be back well in time for the show so no need for that :-)

Yup very handy we broke down within a few miles of a landie fanatic (writes a column for LRM as well) . Superb bloke and family...shows there are still good people about :-)

Indeed, and as an unexpected bonus, doubtless your exploits will be featured in LRM at some point.

To be honest I didn't pick up on the fact you were off to Morocco (nor had anyone else it appears), so the breakdown has highlighted your trip for all to see. Keep us informed on progress.

Sorry for not updating the thread, been a tad busy...but basically we rebuilt and engine for the landie, fitted it and a few weekends later headed for Morocco.

The Moroccan Rally 2012 was successfully completed on Saturday 22nd September.

Morocco and the Western Sahara was another incredible journey for us. We covered most corners of Morocco and the Western Sahara from east to west and north to south.

We shared many a cup of Moroccan tea with the locals, whether it was someone we bumped into in the road, met in a shop or someone who was welding or repairing our car, everyone from all walks of life welcomed us and shared some of that infamous tea that seems to be the foundation of any social occasion in Morocco. Great people, great driving, great times

Of course we will be atending the overland show so anyone who wants to let us bore you to bits with our routes, stories and everything else is more than welcome to find the tatty old red Land Rover

Oh - and £1400 raised for the Mercy corps - quite proud of that
