| We discussed this subject before, but can't find the post. Here we go again ...
I am about to purchase a folding shovel as always good to have something on board for mud/snow clearance around the wheels + when nature calls whilst off wild camping!
Any ideas? | |

| If its for the call of nature and you want a longdrop, I would suggest one with a long handle. | |

| I have my entrenching tool (issued) and the pioneer shovel on my front. 2 should be enough. | |

| I carry a "home made" Irish shovel on the roof more or less permanently. Fixed on with 4 x 28mm pipe clips and a strap. The bolt which I used to attach the "shovel" to the long handle is actually a cut down fence strainer - I use the eye to loop a bike lock through and around the bars. No point in doing any more - "if they really want it they will have it" The handle is a heavy duty aluminium pole from a knackered tree pruner. Will try to remember to take a pic tomorrow (not a pick)  | |

I have a folding shovel in the Fronty it's fine for digging holes of a toiletry kind but I like the skin on my knuckles too much to try and dig the truck out of anything other than very soft sand with it, for digging your truck out of anything more testing much better off with a normal garden/building shovel | |

| I use the military ones, as mounted on wing tops or rear of Land Rovers. They come in 2 lengths of handle and I carry one of each.
The shorter one is very useful when clearing under a vehicle and the longer one for deeper holes. | |
