Because we thought it looked cool. And thats pretty much it. And £500 seemed reasonable to us.

But, of course on a practical note - it is very simple to maintain - chances are if something goes wrong, it can be fixed or bodged to get you there. No fancy electronics or ECUs controlling what does what - it is all basic mechanics. The sort of garages we have pulled into....well...I think they would know jsut about as much as me about what to do if a modern engine failed.

All my opinion of course, but if the only reason why you buy a car is purely because it has the best of the practical merits...well surely that is taking the fun out of it? Do we do overland travel because of its practical merits? Or because we want to have a good time?
