| You just have to see the latest additions to the Display Vehicle section, it's getter better day by day. Yoda (roamingman) even gets a mention, although it does make for scary viewing what with all that tin worm around - those of a nervous disposition best look away. Could have been hellava lot worse though, at least he's not in any of the shots! www.adventureoverlandshow.com/#/vehicle-display/4557708236 | |

| Well my stated aim was ... "to create the greatest display of overland campers and expedition vehicles ever assembled in the UK, both self-built or purchased from specialist companies."Delighted to report that I'm getting there, then again that's only my opinion. The real judges will be the show's visitors, they will be ones who ultimately decide yay or nay. Fingers crossed. | |

| Just been checking the weather forecast - to see if Tuggy is bringing the sun or the rain with him ... My favourite weather service (i.e. the one with a forecast I like) says for Daventry: Friday: 11C, partly cloudy, 0.6mm rain Saturday: 12C, partly cloudy, 0mm rain Sunday: 13C, partly cloudy, 0mm rain. My vote is for glorious sunshine, no rain ... even if it is a bit chilly. Will keep an eye on it this week. (PS - does anyone else remember last year 1st October was blistering hot? I remember our final braai / BBQ of the season was 1st Oct ...) rgds African GirlChild | |

| Thanks! Really pleased with the way it's all come together I have to say. Given up looking at forecasts. I was down at the 4x4 autojumble in Newbury, Berkshire today for instance, beforehand I was told the local forecast was rain by noon - nothing all day, not a spit! I rest my case. Don't forget, there will be a Display Area for members of this forum. For information about this pitch, see the post within Upcoming Events appropriately titled - Display Area for members of this forum. Me I'm off to site later today (Monday) to start setting up, so unless I can get on a PC, no emails or posts until next week. I can be reached however via the Event Hotline (my mobile) on 07958 216266. See you soon! | |

| Guys
Me and Mrs HB have just returned from the festival, we made the mistake of not coming for the whole weekend, and did the 350 mile round trip for the day, and wished we'd come up for the weekend now!
We'd turned up a little late to just to miss the start of Austin's talk, we did struggle to find it!, but once we got there we found lots of other like minded people listening with absolute interest to his tales and opinions. Very entertaining and a great start to the event.
We really came up to see Lois, and she was absolutely brilliant, for someone thats done some great trips, she's very unnasuming and understated, but like her books a really a great presenter, so much so that Mrs HB is considering doing a long trip!! (not just a couple of weeks up to the top of Europe!).
The show in itself was really very good too, we managed to have a wander around a lot of the trade and dream of "Adventure" cufflinks (if you went to Austins talk that will make sense!), and still managed to catch up with our mates Ian and Ad from IRB Developments, and spend a couple of bob with 4x4 Overland / Brendan.
A couple of suggestions for improvements (not a criticism) but will help for next year (!!):
1. Speakers Area - just make sure it was sign posted, and that theres quiet around them (we went down to see Chris Scott, and coudnt here a thing as they were jet washing down the Quads, so a bit difficult in a shared environment.
2. Ticket Inspections - wasnt obvious that you needed to retain your ticket and was asked a couple of times for our tickets as we crossed from teh car park to seminar area and back again. So either remind people they need to keep them or have a mechanism where you have a way of passing to each.
All in all a really great day, and we'll be up for the whole weekend next time. Well done to you all for organising an excellent event.
Mr and Mrs HB. | |

| Same sentiments as HB. Really enjoyed the show and will make sure for next year that I book in the whole weekend. Even happy to volunteer if needed.
Points I enjoyed: - I know trade stands and concessions pay the bills but I did enjoy finding overlanders and their vehicles set up with pictures etc so I could ask questions and have a chat about various places and their vehicles. It was interesting to compare the types of vehicles people use from the motorcycles thru to the massive beasts down at the other end of the paddock. - Having said that, I did enjoy the trade stands and came away with a couple of small but useful purchases.
On the whole a great show I look forward to getting more involved next year. Would also be interested in any other events or just get togethers with the forum members. In the UK for a couple of years so might as well make some friends and enjoy it!

| Tom I take my hat off sir! For a first show it was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, nice to see some "different" trade stands and some of the display vehicles were amazing. Very interesting talking to some of the owners too. A few comments (NOT moans - points for the future) The camping area near the display vehicles - it would be nice to be warned about the noise level - ie; the motorway etc being very close, found it very difficlut to sleep. Toilets - the site owners need to keep on top of them better next time - no hand dryer and constant running out of towels etc. I realise that the ticket inspection etc was probably done on a voluntary basis(?) but I think it may need to be a bit stricter next time! All in all though Tom, nothing to actually complain about at all, the convenience shop was very handy and helpful and I was very impressed with what must have been a bugger of a job! | |
