Feed of Overland Blogs & Posts

I was wondering if there was any way to include a feed on the home Page of this site listing recent feeds from live overland trips and twitter, posts, Like, Overland-live or on Expedition portal

When we update our blog but we don’t always post it on the forums, and we do not sign up to everyone else’s blogs, which means not only do people not get our news but we don’t get theirs.

I would drop by more, if there was something like this on the site, and it may encourage other over-landers to join the site too when they see there are linked from this site?

Some of us do have and use blogs or personal websites. Which we post in our signatures.

I use the free version of webnode.com and there is the ability to link this forum, facebook etc to you own web page or blog.

Most of the users on here seem to find this forum ok, if more members would find the above post useful then we will look in to possibly using an update system, probably a blog of our own that will let other blog friends know that there has been a forum update.

Post the links in your 1st post, and over time either add new comments or new posts with members replying.

Or, Once you have created your new topic, I could lock the topic so there are no other replys. You could then update by editing your own post. eg. 05/11/11 TJ Blog updated, 11/11/11 TJ blog updated.

We will give it thought but we like to do things on the FREE side here. If there is a FREE way of linking updated then we will look in to it.

I was thinking of a more automated process, as a manually updated thread would not only need updating regularly, but would also need to be cleared out of old content etc, it also would not have live content which may be of more interest,

Just an RSS list on one of the pages etc or something like this

A plugin for the forum which you could add overlanders blogs / websites rss feeds too, when the overlander updates their blog, an auto post will be created.

You would then have all current overlander’s blogs in one place to browse.

I have about 30 rss feeds on Google reader covering most continents; (took about 20/30 min to put together) which mainly consist of overland 4x4’s, and a few Trucks / motorbikes, you could probably import the feeds, which would get the thread going,

Ta, I will check this sort of thing out, cant say I know too much about it yet.

Via this forum We can send out a Email every once in a while to let all the Forum members know what new things are going on, updates, events, shows etc. Might be worth doing every now and then. Its not a live feed, but at least you will be reminded to pop in and have a look..... Watch this space.

The "Overland Sphere" link can be found within the adverts top of the Home page on this forum.


Makes sense to me, what do you think?

Maybe not really the correct place to post this, but, could links at the top of the page be made to open in a new window? Then at least we stay on the forum whilst we look elsewhere.
