| Hi All,
I thought some of you might be interested in my blog which is about my overland adventures in the Americas.
My wife and I are travelling from Alaska to Brazil (well really we started in Halifax, Canada and are going to end up in Argentina but From A to B was much snappier). We are travelling a converted Leyland DAF GS ex-army truck which as been turned into a camper. We are 30 something brits hailing from London (well Sarah comes from Wales but has been living in London for the last few years).
We are on the verge of completing the Alaska portion of the trip and starting to head south and have been travelling for about 2 months.
The blog address is:
FromAtoB.org
We've really got into the swing of living in a camper now.
If anyone has any questions or anything please feel free.
Regards,
Mark | |

| hi,
I tried to work out how to post a picture directly but I was defeated.
However if you look at the blog there are plenty of pictures of the truck in there - right at the beginning some pictures of it half finished as well.
Sorry about posting a URL - I know new members aren't supposed to,

| Bovered? No problem, not spam. If it relates to photos or a member's website, that's fine.
The first section (top of the page) entitled How to register, post photos, rules & regs, do’s & don’ts, etc. the third thread down explains how to post photos.
I'm sure there's a quicker, more straightforward way to post photos on the forum, but it seems to work for me so that's okay in my book.

| Mark must be off on his hols. If you PM him Juan, it will appear in his email inbox that you have contacted him, I'm sure he would like to know about your generous offer. If he doesn't, I just might take you up on it! Nah ... I wish. No chance, but it's a nice thought. | |

| Hi Mark and Sarah
What an amazing web site and the pictures are absolutely stunning.
I am not sure if I can wait another year!
My wife and I returned from a 7 month trip to Mongolia in December 2011 in a 1994 Landcruiser which is now sitting outside the house patiently waiting for the next trip. We had been considering India via the KKH, shipping from India to Madagascar and back up through Africa, but over the past few weeks we have been thinking of doing an about turn and doing the Americas (which was always going to be trip 3). Having had a quick look through your blog I think Madagascar will be trip 3! However, I think it will be mid next year before we will be in a position to set off without having to commit to return date.
Can I just ask if there is anywhere you would recomend avoiding, or had particular trouble? We had the expected hassles in Russia and the Stans with borders and police (we even slept the night at the Mongolian Border on the way into Mongolia as by the time we got thropugh Imigration Customs had gone home!) but we never once fealt threatened on the whole trip.
Happy Traveling
Mick & Chris

| Agreed, Mark and Sarah's photos are stunning. Also found the array of vehicles on their travels interesting. Well, you learn something new every day - I had never heard of Port Lockroy and it has a Post Office. I bet the mail's quicker from there to the UK than it is from Coventry to Portsmouth. Mother's Day card posted last Thursday 1st class only got there Monday morning. That's a point, wonder if you can send a letter from Port Lockroy second class? Keep on trucking M & S! BTW, welcome Mick & Chris. | |

| Subject: Carnet Required in South America? Thu May 01, 2014 9:58 pm | |
| Hi Mark and Sarah
We are setting off in June in the same general direction as you, we have used your web site extensovely for research and ideas but can see no mention of carnet? The RAC say it is advisory, The Hubb say it is not required and then go on to say that it can be useful. To be honest my inclination is not to bother, but am interested in whether you did have one and if not whether things might have been any easier if you had one.
We are leaving a little later than originally hoped so we are going to drive straight across Canada with no detours and hardly stopping until we get to the bottom of the Dempster Highway, we will then slow down a bit and do both Dempster highway in Canada and the the Dalton highway in Alaska before heading south.
We plan to get to the southern tip of South America by Feb 2015 so taking it a lot quicker than you up to this point, but we will then drive up to Uruguay and back in land through Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru as the weather should be a lot better.
We are shipping to New York because we were unable to get insurance in Canada but we will then drive up to Niagara and across Canada.
We would like to thank you for your blog and the time you have spent creating it. I did a blog for the Mongolia trip we did in 2010, with full intentions of adding all sorts of detail, but had no time before we left and even less when we got back.
We would be very interested to here from you. | |
