| That is quite expensive. I had a similar problem with prices. But this mag was Total off road. It was a good mag but they are too expensive. Shame cos i liked the pics....

| Often you can read them online, you may be a month behind, but who cares. | |

| That ain't good mate, head for the airport.
I used to buy every Land Rover and 4x4 magazine each month, but nowdays I rarely buy any. In my opinion they've priced themselves out of it, and once you've broken the habit of buying a certain mag every month, that's one less customer on a regular basis - and there's a lot of folk out there who think like I do.
As for the size, do we really need 250+ pages? I would rather see 200 pages max and a price of £3.50 (rather than £4.20).

Good point. Another thing is, whereas in days gone by the only fix a Land Rover/4x4/off-road enthusiast could get reading-wise was through the magazines, but now there's a host of online magazines, forums (such as this one), travel reports, articles, blogs, etc. - not to mention millions of actual websites. Finding reading material nowadays ain't an issue, even better when it's virtually free of charge.

| last month if you ordered a subscription to LRO for a year, you got second year free, so maybe they relise they are loosing customers. It is the only one we have now, see what happens next year. | |

| I was an avid reader of LRO/LRM and subscribed to LRM, for a couple of years.
What made me stop reading/buying them was partly the high price, but mainly it was the cyclical content.
I guess there are only so many times one can read a piece telling me how to fit a lift kit...and drive up the side of a mountain, or my personal favourite ..the good old days...which I find to be a cheap excuse to use file pictures, to fill the page.
I am not moaning on, indeed I used to thoroughly enjoy the classified section, seeing what under £1000 would get me..and I did buy my Series III through an LRM ad.
But with these excellent forums and information so readily available, for me the monthly magazines have become rather redundant.

| The thing is, I say the mags are too expensive, but then again productions costs have shot up in recent times. Again, like I’ve said many times of late, I feel the high price of fuel has had a devastating impact on the world of motoring, the 4x4 scene in particular.
What the answer is I really don’t know, all I am certain about is that like yourself I think the magazines have had their day, the internet being its death knell. Shame, but I guess that’s “progress”.

| so why don't they do an online magazine that you could subscribe to each month if you wanted to read it,,,,,say 50p,,,,maybe thats the way to go,,,,,but then as ed said its just generic crap thats published every month,,,,and unless your new on the scene then its not interesting,,,,, | |

| Folk don't want to pay out for internet subscriptions, even if it's only 50p. World Off Road was a great publication, full of useful stuff. It went over to subscription only - it died. Difflock started an internet magazine. That reached Issue 9 - March 2009 before that too died. Ain't nothing like holding and reading a 'paper magazine', and reading it off a monitor ain't nothing like a 'paper magazine'!!! | |

so where can i get a good upto date read on the www.. Good question. You can't really, it's purely the forums that provide the latest info. Besides, reading your laptop on the throne is nothing like a magazine.
