PostSubject: Hello from ... Central London   Hello from ... Central London EmptyMon Jan 31, 2011 5:53 am

Greetings all ... Just thought I'd come and say hello.

Many thanks to the Owners of this for setting one up, The HUBB is good for some things, but its nice to have a home of our own!

We've a 110 TD5 on an 02 ... have owned it for 3 years and for us its teh best thing since sliced bread !!. It's been "Pornied" (Stage 2'd), and some may say its the fastest roof tent in the west! (that said if I'd wanted a sports car we'd have bought one instead).

Anyway enough of my waffle ... hello to all !

Wecome indeed. Fresh blood, that's what we like! Twisted Evil

Agree about the HUBB. A lot of good stuff on there as borders and paperwork for example are the same whatever you drive/ride, but like you I felt that we needed a 'proper home' ... you've arrived!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Mac - Well heres the mean machine, in all its glory, that said it's got a new (to me) roof rack and awning. Not the most aerodynamic of things on the roof I know.

Thanks for the welcome chaps ... much appreciated !!! :-)

A couple of points:

1. It's Bonneti Grey ... apparently ! (so lara tells me !, although it aint the real mccoy !)

2. If anyone has a TD5 and is dissapointed with the general torque of teh thing, I would strongly suggest that you get it looked at in terms of getting it "chipped", these things can increase the BHP from 118 to around 175 (with an intercooler). I'm told that the spec for a defender is to be able to run in large operating tempratures and varying altitudes which is why it is so massively de tuned. They also recommend that if you are travelling further afield that a spare standard ECU (or a switched one) is picked up which can help when duff fuel is being used. (I have absolutely no commercial reasons for saying this, its just that I've had it done and is the best 500 quid I've ever spent ...

3. Mac .. I don't think I'm a million miles away from you (or won't be when I move!), not far from Deal.

Yep they look real well in it it was dads choice but he has since changed his mind for the newer stornoway grey.

While in France last summer we had use of a chipped td5 was a mighty jeep till go even with 11 in it.
