| Do we have any fishing fans here @ 4x4overlandtravel.com?
Course/sea/fly it does'nt matter.
Ill start it off - basicaly ive been course fishing since i could walk. From day fishing to night, lakes, rivers and canels. Ive caught most species of course fish from gudgeon to zandar. Weights from 3 0z minnows to 30lbs carp. Using floats, ledgers, bombs, feeders, bait allarms.
Over the past 2 years ive ditched the big baits and heavy duty rods and gone light on tackle. Ive switched more to specimen hunting that massive fish.
Ive been focusing on Large roach, perch and tench. Using a 15ft 3piece 3 oz tip match rod on 3lbs line with a number 20 barbless hook fishing over bread crum and groundbait using double or tripple maggot/casters on bottom shot stick float. Ive caught some great fish over the past years, not the biggest but IMO the best.
Tell us abit about your fishing, favorite species and methods. It would also be good to hear if you have fished out of the UK overland etc.

| Used to do a bit of all sorts but found I didn't have the patience for coarse fishing generally so stuck to sea or a pullign trout out of the local beck on freelined breadflake. Oddly enough have been considering getting some fresh Beachcasting gear as I hear it's good fishing of MArine Drive in Scarborough and thats only 20 min or so away. Do wish it was a bit easier to be able to fish on some of the lochs in Scotland when we're camping and reckon could have had some good fishing in Norway and Sweden when we were there | |

| Went sea-fishing once in a little boat off Dungeness Power Station in Kent. Never again!!! Puked from start to finish, didn't catch a darn thing - except a couple of little smelt if I recall which I assure you live up to their name - which made me heave even more. Never ever again! | |

| I have had days even weekends were i have caught very little even nothing but i look at it as learning. But even when i dont catch alot im always taking photo's of stuff, nature, my truck etc. Cooking up some food having a bevo. And if ive got my bivy set up in the day i tend to sleep between 10am-3pm. Ive found the fish to be more active from evening through the night to early morning. I have tryed sea fishing, it wernt bad, i tryed beach casting, boat fishing and fishing off the harbour. For me i was more sucessful fishing of the harbour, but ive not gone sea fishing for some time, i tend to stick to what i know and course fish. Ive only fly fished once but after wraping the line and hook around my neck i ditched that quickly. Jas | |

| There are a fue liscenses out there. I can only speak for course fishing but i have a rod liscence that can be got from the post office that was £25 and i have a Kennet & Avon canal liscence that was £22.50, this includes all canals and the lakes asosiated with it. All you need is a rod liscence to fish and the usual price for a day ticked for a lake is around £3 per rod. Unless its a specimen lake (Big carp) and its around £6-8 per rod.

| Well, where's the photo of your river monster? Gotta say, for one whose only interest in fish is what they taste like, I find those River Monster programmes on the box fascinating. Remind me never to go swimming in rivers ever again!!!!!! | |

| Fishing the Canal near Salisbury Plain. Caught 6lb of silverfish in 5 hours. Relatively quiet on the canal, the random weather put of most narrow boats. | |

| Did do coause fishing many years ago, when we lived down in the East of England, day/night, and even frozen fishing once -25% ended up at the pub at noon. Did once do some fishing in Holland,France and Germany, while I was HGV driver. Then moved to North East Scotland, could not get on with fly fishing, so not fished for years still have a rod and some hooks floats, it is in our caravan. | |
