Paper driving licences being abolished in June 2015

Found this interesting, especially the replies at the foot of the page about retaining your paper licence. Sound advice I'd say.

I also agree with the two comments: don't throw away the old one.

I'm slightly paranoid about certain pieces of paper - this certainly would fall into that category (although Norway have ever only used the photocard).

It seems to be a case of ... once it's gone there's no proof. Don't the DVLA keep records? Obviously not!

Yes, most (all?) licences are now on the DVLA database, and YOU can log in to check your own entitlements...

You need your licence number and NI number. then it shows everything. I'd still keep the paper one though! or a photograph of the plastic one (which has the entitlements on the back)
