| So come October the DVLA is no longer issuing a tax disc. So how will those people at the border control know that the vehicle is taxed ?
Will we have to shew them on our smart 'phone the DVLA site for proof ? | |

| I don't know what it is like now, but when I used to drive HGV's around Europe quite some time time in the past, German motors had no tax disc , thay never had a problem.  | |

| German vehicles have a stamp on the number plate I believe. | |

| Got my new tax for my van today its printed on a pice of paper which yo have to cut out and displat till the 1st october then scrap it the letter said it is a cost cutting and will give a better service in the future  | |

| Yes, at border crossings, the EU are currently rolling out ANPR software to add to their cameras already installed at all major ports and border crossings and their intention is to equip all border crossings with cameras and appropriate software. | |

Yes if you read all about that. You'll find that the DVLA had run out of tax discs, only the DVLA not the Post Office, so instead of wasting tax payers money and havive a new print set-up they've done this. | |

I guess the long term objective is for tracking across all EU states of all motor vehicle (and person) movement. The UK police don't check foreign licenced vehicles and one might wonder how many carry valid VED (or equivalent) and insurance. | |
