Jeep JK unlimited tire/lift question Empty
PostSubject: Jeep JK unlimited tire/lift question   Jeep JK unlimited tire/lift question EmptyFri May 02, 2014 3:35 am

I am new to overland camping. I purchased a 2013 rubicon unlimited. I plan to do some camping and trail riding. Curious what would be the easiest/but best lift /wheel combo to keep good highway performance, but would work great on fire roads and some moderate off roading. Tire size/ style, wheel size and style/beadlock? Lift type and how high is needed for the tire style/size recommended. I have about 4K to spend on the combo

Hi chadjodi
I don't know where your based but running a Rubicon and given the what your planning I really don't think a lift is going to benefit you. You are already running the biggest standard wheels and tyre combo and given the standard ground clearance you will be capable of dealing with most terrain.
Any sort of lift will begin to compromise the road capability and handling of your jeep, bigger wheels will compromise the performance and fuel economy and you will need to re-program the ecu if you go bigger on the rolling diameter of tyres, plus bigger than 35 inch diameter you will need to change the diff ratio or the whole thing will be undriveable.

if however you plan to do extreme off road or Rockcrawling then lifts and bigger tyres will be essential so I suggets you visit http://project-jk.com/ and http://wayalife.com/content.php and see what these guy's use, dig around, the info is plentiful and good quality.
Hope this is of use  Very Happy
