| Try the year after. You know the pace of change in those parts, nothing is ever done in a hurry. | |

| tangier med is a nightmare because you come straight in to morocco they do the immigration on the boat so its a bun fight to get your form signed. ..if you go to ceuta you land in spain so no bun fight on the boat just a nice cup of coffee and a roll.. ...and if the boarder is busy you can always look around ceuta which is a beautiful place and cross the boarder later....i have never been held up in ceuta but have had terrible crossings in tangiers med and milelia.... .......you have been warned..... . | |

| Okay, so while it is still over a year away, time to start getting things moving. Some of us involved in the trip will be at HUBB in June manning the AO2014 stand, so if you have expressed an interest and are going to be at HUBB, makes sure you stop by. The next semi-official planning meeting will be at AO2014 in September.
Cheers! | |

| So for those of us that were at the HUBB, we did some preliminary planning and thinking about the trip. Lots of time spent staring at maps and talking to other overlanders who have been through some of the southern bits. We have the route roughed out and can discuss with everyone at our next meeting. The question now is which port (Cueta, Tanger or Melilla)? Also firming up dates. | |

| Really annoyed I couldn't have seen your Morocco presentation at HUBB UK. Did anyone video it by any chance? Also Tembo, can the presentation be reproduced at the Adventure Travel & Overland Show, Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse 27-28 September 2014? I will have a dedicated "Seminar Sessions Room" there this year alongside a "4x4 Travel Cinema". Yep, it's evolving! | |

| Tom,
That won't be a problem. In fact we were talking about the need for more presentations and talks at AO...so would be happy to help out.
Maybe Gary can do a talk on how Disco's can actually pull Defenders out of the sand...we have video proof!

| Hi guys I hope your well. Do we have a date for this trip yet? Me and my wife Laura will be coming but our time is limited. It's likely that we will travel back earlier due to work commitments!! Really looking forward to the trip and catching up with you guys. After reading up on ferry crossings from Spain I think we would be better doing the same crossing as last year as I have read horror stories (time delays) with other crossings. | |

| Good to hear from you! Hope all is well with life. As for dates, we were originally thinking meeting in Tarifa on 15 April but at HUBB there was discussion about maybe meeting for the crossing earlier...maybe beginning of April.
No worries pulling out earlier...the way we have designed the route this time it will be easy to pull out at any point and head back by tar highway.
Good to hear the missus is coming....mine plans to as well.
As for crossing points, we will probably end up back at Cueta or Tanger but will keep looking at reports for Melilla as it would save us 1-2 days of transit time that would be better spent exploring and enjoying.
Cheers, | |

| In South Sudan at the moment but when I get back lets put up some dates and get everyone to agree now.
We can continue to plan for meeting up in Tarifa on a specific date, as last time, for a crossing to Cueta/Tanger. Melilla can remain an option if we can get any recent (2014) feedback on how the border crossing is working as it would save us 1-2 days of transit time.

| Hi All
Well I can now confirm I will be coming possible with err indoors but she's yet to commit definitely.
The earlier in April the better for me but what ever the majority decide I'm good with.
Can't wait tbh apart from my USA trip later this year, its been a bit quiet on the travelling front but at least I've got some jobs done at home ready for a full on year next year. Again I'm looking at France and Spain then Morocco with a possibility of Portugal on the way back but will need to work in the tours and shows along the way, so a busy year !

| Hi All, Just a reminder that the first formal planning session for this trip will take place at AO14. Exact time will be confirmed closer to the event and the location at the venue...but preferrably somewhere with access to beer. Things we will cover:
-Dates for RV in southern Spain -Ferry route selection and destination port in Morocco -Overview of route (more below) -Who is coming and what portion of the trip everyone will do (some may pull out early to head back) -Breakdown rules (a little different than last time) -'Shared' loads and resources (group cooking, who carries sand ladders/bridging waffleboards, first aid kits etc) -An overview of what to expect for those joining us for this trip.
I believe we will also be presenting the full version of the trip video we prepared for the HUBB in June. So those joining us can get a better idea of what to expect.
See you at AO14 and let the planning begin!

Rgds Gary New truck? Did I miss something while I was away? No worries about missing the meeting, will let you know all the decisions afterwards. To all the others, look forward to seeing you there!

Yeah its had loads of money spent on it to bring it back to near original condition. I'm looking at fitting the back out with a sleeping platform and storage so I can do away with a tent and and roof rack to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible. Well thats the plan anyway
