Towing/recovery strop advice Empty
PostSubject: Towing/recovery strop advice   Towing/recovery strop advice EmptySat Nov 30, 2013 9:26 pm

Hi all, as a newcomer to off-road travel I'd like a bit of advice on selection of a towing strop and shackles. We have a Merc 814DA, running weight around 6.5 tonnes. What length/capacity towing/recovery strop should I be looking at, and what type/capacity of shackles? It already has a 13000kg winch fitted.

We don't expect to be doing a lot of serious off road stuff but would like to be prepared 'just in case'!

Thanks Smile

Andy

Anything rated over 13,000Kg.

Length, depends upon what use you put it to, but I find a 7M strop is fine as it can be folded in half to give a 3.5M length, and a 4M one also.

You won't get better advice than from Alan Satchell at www.liftingandcrane.co.uk Alan is an avid off-roader himself, so can point you in exactly the right direction for your needs. By all means say Tom McGuigan recommended him.
