| Looking for some advice from down under.
Hoping to be in Tin Can Bay, 200K north of Brisbane for a week in January and have a 4x4 to play with.
Can anyone recommend places to go and things to see within a days drive.
Places like Fraser Island and Double Island Point look great but not sure how feasible they are for day trips?
Many thanks, ijp | |

| Just north of Rockhampton there is a small town called Yappoon. From there you can get to a place called Waterpark creek, a great place to dive off trees into the tee tree oiled water. There is a track from here to a place called five rocks where a bunch of locals had welded a load of shipping containers together and made amazing houses on the cliffs. When we went in 2000 the population was 6, we doubled that when we arrived. I am not sure you will find it in any of the guide books but I just found this using google, http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.html?site=361_Waterpark-Creek-to-Five-Rocks--ReturnI dont know what it would be like now as it has been nearly 14 years since I drove that route. Loads of wild camping to be had though. Jed | |

| This is my stomping ground. Double Island point, Teewah beach, Rainbow Beach are all great areas that are good for day trips from Tin Can Bay. Fraser Island is close but you need a minimum of three or four days to check it out.
Five Rocks near Yeppoon is awesome and I have spent many days driving around the area there but is about a Five or six hour drive fron Tin Can Bay so not really a day trip. (That track link has pics of my rig on the tracks.)
When you have the dates sorted let me know and I can play tour guide for you. (Work permitting.) | |
