| At last its happened, after scouring the world for a Unimog in reasonable condition at a fair price instead of the highly inflated dealer prices, it happened, but just like buses you wait forever and two come together.
In an unusual deal I have now acquired not one Unimog, but two, both U 1400 models in red, they will be being put through their paces this weekend in Derbyshire so anyone seeing us please pip and wave, as Dave will undoubtedly be driving the other he will almost likely have his cooler box and cooker, this means bacon, sausages, eggs, and a variety of tins with tomatoes, beans, and of course he will have mushrooms. He will always have his kettle and copious quantities of coffee, that's just for me.

| Thanks ijp! I agree, my Range Rover ambulance-soon-to-be-camper is one of the most impressive off-road vehicles around!!! That orange thing with the big tyres ain't too scabby either. | |

| Its twin is currently in the workshop being measured up for its modifications, it will have:
Uprated hydraulic pump working at 135 Litres per minute of flow.
Modified fuel tanks to give more clearance under them in aluminium.
Bigger tyres if I can get Michelin XZL's as they are speed rated for 56 MPH and good on road as well as off.
Modified injection pump, intercooler, uprated turbo, uprated injectors for 179 BHP from its original 140 BHP.
Stainless steel exhaust stack which they have already cut from offcuts of stainless, and stainless exhaust.
Modified hydraulics with 4 ports front, 4 ports rear, and 3 ports centre.
20 tonne hydraulic winch.
Improved soundproofing.

| Some awesome machinery there, do you like Mogs by any chance Rob?
My favourite: Very hard to say, but 60. Unicat U 4000 6x6 kampeerauto has to right up there.
My least favourite: 40. Unimog U... camper met hefdak. It looks weird, as if the wheelbase is too short. Pull away with a jolt and it looks as if it would fall over backwards! The fact the roof is in its elevated position doesn't help either. Still wouldn't say no though, they are great machines ... all of them, even the very latest 'ugly' versions.

| Oh yes, I love those Unimogs. But they are to expensive for me, so I have to do with the pictures I make. These pictures shows us the love and care the owners have for their Mogs. And it’s good to see how those machine are given a 2nd or 3rd life. I miss websites on the www which shows us pictures of all the models, types and serial numbers of the Unimogs that were ever made. So I started to make a page on my own website. Most pictures I made myself in the last 5 years. If someone can help me out with filling in some of those missing numbers, it would be a big help. Best regards, Rob | |
