A Namibia 4×4 off road expedition adventure holiday for those who prefer driving themselves, this guided trip around some of Namibia’s highlights offers you the chance to test your off-roading skills. Ideal for those who like camping in Europe, or weekend greenlaning, but want something more challenging and exciting. This is an inexpensive way to get a taste of Africa overlanding without the need for taking 6 months off from work. It’s a great trip for families with a sense of adventure, or for a group of like minded couples who want an adventure trip like no other.
Day 1 Arrival
Windhoek – KaliomboYou will be met at Windhoek International Airport by your personal guide. Transfer to Windhoek city, where they will get familiarized with the 4 x 4 vehicle before driving to the Farm Kaliombo, on the main road (B2). This is the first destination, where the night will be spent in the tented Kaliombo Camp.
On the farm grounds the first test drives of off-road driving will be undertaken. The evening will be spent around a big camp fire. Accommodation: dinner and breakfast
Day 2
Kaliombo – EtoshaThe adventure starts via Omaruru, Otjiwarongo and Otavi to the Etosha National park, where you’ll pitch your tent at Namutoni Camping Site for the first time on this adventure. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 3
Etosha – Swartboois DriftToday you head out on an excursion through the park in a northerly direction via the Andoni region, where you leave the park and travel via Ondangwa, Oshakati and continue to Ruacana. From there you will reach Swartboois Drift, the day’s destination. Tonight you will camp at the Kunene River Lodge. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 4
Swartboois Drift – Epupa FallsToday you continue along the Kunene river on difficult ground, where the driver can test his/her skills, arriving in the late afternoon at Epupa and the Epupa Falls Camp site near the falls. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 5
Epupa FallsToday you will pay a visit to a traditional Himba settlement and afterwards explore the wonderful area and maybe even enjoy a swim in the clear water of the Kunene river. Tonight you camp for a second night at the Epupa falls camp site. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 6
Epupa Falls – Van Zyl’s PassFrom today onwards, driving will become more difficult and your driving skills will be tested. You navigate through gorges and high mountains, until eventually you find a suitable camping site in the vicinity of the Van Zy’ls Pass. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 7
Van Zyl’s Pass – Marienfluss valleyYour expedition leads over the Van Zyl’s Pass, famous for it’s difficult cross-country terrain. After many hours of an exhausting drive, you will reach the Marienfluss valley. You will be fascinated with the endless seeming vastness and great gathering of different antelopes and Hartmann Zebra. Here you will not have a problem finding a good camp site! Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 8
Marienfluss valley – OrupembeToday you continue in a southerly direction via “Red Drum” to Orupembe, where your next camp will be in the vicinity of Orupembe. Wild Camping! Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 9
Orupembe – PurrosToday you travel towards the south, through the endless vastness via the Khumib river, to Purros. Impressive landscapes and some small villages of the nomadic Himba people will leave lasting memories of this part of your trip. Your next camp will be in the Hoarusib river near Purros tonight.

Day 10
Purros – Ongongo WaterfallToday your exploration continues as you drive further through the southern part of Kaokoland to Sesfontein and continue to the Ongongo waterfall near Warmquelle, where your camp will be set up. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 11
Ongongo Waterfall – Aba Huab (via Twyfelfontein)Today you drive into Damaraland, exploring the concession area of Palmwag, where you may even catch a glimpse of the rare Black Rhino. In the late afternoon you will arrive at Twyfelfontein where you will take a short hike to view the famous rock engravings. Tonight your camp will be erected at Aba Huab. Accommodation: camping with full board
Day 12
Aba Huab – Windhoek DepartureToday is your last in Namibia and you will head back to Windhoek via Uis, Omaruru and Okahnadja. Once in Windhoek you will return your vehicle and transfer to the International Airport for your flight back home.
