PostSubject: Pajero/Shogun   Pajero/Shogun EmptyWed Jan 09, 2013 9:50 pm

Was wondering what people think of either the 3.2 or 2.8 td pajeros as a possible overland vehicle.

Very Happy

Both are epic. Comfy, easy to use and both offer excellent levels of traction. I'd go with the newer 3.2 it's a goo oil burner.
I'm pretty sure the 2.8 is the good one out of the 2.8 and smaller 2.5's. I'm pretty sure it was the latter that experiences engine problems with headgasket.
II'm also pretty sure if u get a Shogun your likely to have a rear diff lock. The pajero models are lsd. Again it could be the other way around.
But I'm sure as Assassins on he will inform us.

Lots of off the shelf kit for both, the 3.2 more so. Lots of cargo space in lwb form. Reliable.

Neither will be as good on econemy as the Terracan, or at least I've never been able to match it with either.
Both engines come manual or auto. Both have super select transfer case.

I have been looking at the Shogun as a Merc replacement, they seem very reliable and come with loads of stuff as standard.

But having just parted company with the ML who's only downfall was large plastic bumpers and lack of ground clearance I think I may be just looking at more of the same.

Watched a couple of the YouTube videos and as I thought the rear bumper gets ripped off then he beaches it on a couple of small ruts which was a shame as it looked good on the muddy bits and also rocky trails.

Look at the 3.2 DiD as they have thumping torque and with the auto box you have super select which means auto or manual transmission if you need it.

As for the back end, it is large but is countered as the LWB is higher than the SWB and it has a steel frame under the front edge of it which is replaced if the tow bar is fitted, so doing damage is either down to stupidity or a lack of driving ability. Had no problems with mine.
