S&O of Kapp2Cape are finding the same - freezing in Norway, then dreadful wind and rain right the way down to Perpignan. Weather dreadful everywhere it seems, but as you say ... "foot down to the sun". cheers

Hope you are making good progress and escaping the rain!

Thanks also for the reminder ... Friday is the weekend in Muslim countries!!!! We also need to get our Mauritanian visas in Rabat ... hope your experience is a good one!

Heading through Spain - been very luck y with the weather so far ... nice and sunny, although quite cool in the evenings.

hello
after kicking our heels in Mohammedia over the long weekend,up this morning at five after heavy rain over night, there's got to be a better way to spend your declining hairline, than packing up a wet tent at five in the morning.was it like this when we were building the empire, can we leave the conquest of india till it stops raining!!.anyway got back to rabat around 7am,there was a queue aready at the mauri embassy around 6-8 deep,by the time the chap came out with the visa forms we were about 30th in it,usual africa queue , doe's not get longer just thicker at the front.bit of a scramble to fill in the forms and keep your place in the line at same time, sharp elbow are a asset here. luckly they had the good sense to start a ladys line,so my wife joined the ladys and we where done and dusted by 0930,that is till wednesday(another holiday on tuesday)when we pick up the visa's.Is this the truman story, never going to get away from here
Standing behind us in the line was a couple of south africans on the way to Cape town,I think they have posted on this site recently.there not far ahead of Girlchild. This embassy is a madhouse.get there early, and be as rude as every body else.
regards chrissue angry

Hi Chrissue!

Thanks for the info on the Mauri embassy. Yes, Anton & (can't remember her name) were probably the ones just behind you! They dropped us an email also suggesting using the ladies queue ... We were hoping to meet up with them, but they are travelling a lot faster than us.

Hope you got your visas ok!

hello
have finally tracked the sun down, its in mauritania.usual drag down western sahara, stop in Tisnit(municiple campsite, smelly) then to le bedouin,35 km before layoune, nice camel stake, beer and wine expensive(it was my 44th wedding anniversary)then to the kite boarders camp just past Dakla junction,on the way to Dakla,it's a even bigger tip than last time, but convenient.there is now a new site across the lagoon, boutique whatever that means, looked very nice though.
sunday 11, down to boarder by 1230,dinner time!,not much problems on moroccan side.no mans is getting to be a mess, striped down cars, and for some reason a big pile of broken TV?.Mauri side a little more frantic with helpers shouting and carrying on,there seems to be alot more than there was,if your french is up to much they are not needed.the money changer in the insurance office is a chancer don't use him.you get a better rate out side on the road.when you first enter the boarder compound, after the police look at your passport. the controllers have a good root in your car, they seemed ok with me.but i have been told they can get a bit sniffy about transporting fuel ,it being alot cheaper in moroc(DH 6.10 lt)DH13.60 to the pound.I have a 167.3lt tank in the back, only had 60lts in,wish i had filled it.they never noticed it!.
Last night was spent in Noutdhibou at camping ABBA in the town its self , noisey and the WC is foul, unfortunatly you can't avoid them if you want a shower, there in the same cubicle.
Today 12th, we are in Noukachott, after a long and frustrating search for Bivouac paris dakar,we stopped at a little hotel god knows where in the city.(EL AMANE is the name and very pleasant it is.This our first free wi-fi since Rabat,i was going to buy dingle or dangle or is it a dongle, but were on a budget, and thats going on beer and wine.
Senegal tomorrow hope for the best.
I spoke to chap at le bedouin who had been round east mauri and in to Mali on his motorbike with out any hassle. And a chap at camping ABBA who has 7 bikers on the way to mauri to play in the sand,he is way marking and lay cache's for them, security ,you pay your money and take the chance, regards chrissue PS 20 fliche's each up to now

Mauri visa in Rabat.
They just changed the rules and stuck a new notice on the wall outside.

New hours are
8am - 11am to get your forms and hand them in and pay your fee

Then on the SAME day
From 15:00 - 15:30 You can collect your visa.

Also if you have women in your group separate queue for ladies..
More Time for cheers1
