| Seems like a nice cheap way to do it! What it lacks for me though is live tracking...as I would not be taking a laptop with me thats for certain...but for £30 that is superb! | |

| There is also a "bluetooth" version at £50 which you could connect to a PDA or mobile phone??? | |

| Yeah but that wouldn't enable it to send live data direct to a website though would it.....just save it to your phone/pda? | |

| Sorry, I thought you were asking for a "live" GPS position for your reference.
What you can do is upload the info daily to a webpage to update your daily activities
You won't get anything as good for the money

| I agree, it is very good for the money! If I had one I would be tempted to wire it to battery so you wouldn't have to faff about charging it. | |

| I have one that is powered by AA batteries (rechargeable Li-Lion AA's are on my "must get" list, as 2 batteries only last 1 day) as I wanted one I could take away from the car in my pocket whilst walking. It is excellent.....I get home and download to my computer and load the file up to GoogleEarth to see where I've been.
There are a number of different brands of these available, and with different power sources. I have yet to see if mine will work hooked up to a laptop/netbook using OziExplorer software to give me moving map capabilities. If not I'll have to go with an alternative (which I may do anyway for the USB charging option). | |

you can hook upto a PC via USB serial connection and with Map software you can get a fix, but Mobile phones these days can come with GPS !

| Nice. I was thinking i would have to do something like that. The one i bought was made of plastic and vibrated so much when the laptop was on it you could not read anything and it became hypnotic to look at, shortly after that it snaped.
And i have used them while driving on the motorway, im not aware of any rules regarding this so..........

| Cool
I'm glad I could help.
If you press the button, it time/date/GPS stamps for locating photo's you took.
Also, you can use it when walking/cycling, and one of the lads left it on when on an aeroplane ! Naughty!

| After losing my GPS tracker overboard while sailing this week (my fault) I am out looking again at trackers etc. I'll be buying a netbook very soon so have decided that rather than buying a dedicated GPS like a Garmin, I will go for another tracker again, and a GPS dongle for the netbook.....now you can get a 65 channel dongle for about $50, and a tracker for the same money it's half the price of the Garmin I would have bought. I am getting a tracker with an LED display so shows speed, position etc etc | |

| Hi all, I am looking into GPS tracking systems, and wonder if anyone has used the Yellow Brick? http://www.yellowbrick-tracking.com/?page_id=402Im looking for a system that can do live updates onto a web page without using WiFi or a 3G network, and so far this system is the only one I have seen that communicates directly with the Iridium satellites. I already use Google Latitude on my smart phone for tracking live updates (which is free) on my web page, but am looking for something that will update regardless of WIFI or 3G networks. Anyone got any experience of the Yellow brick? Cheers.... Scott. | |
