| Does anyone know how much it costs to set up your laptop with gps and mapping, will be taking laptop with us to Europe with us this year so wondered if it is feasible to get all our eggs in one basket. | |

| NOT cheap! I use a netbook (10" screen), GPS dongle and Memory Map.This works great and you can get MMaps for Europe but is very, very expensive. I am experimenting at the moment with Mapyx Quo (FREE download) and I have been quite impressed so far. The software is free and you buy map "tiles" for the areas you want to cover, or you can get everything with an annual subscrition- which still works out a lot cheaper than Memory Map! Worth a lookse..... http://www.mapyx.com/ | |

| had a look was also interesyed in laptop, but that maping is just for the uk from what i saw, no good for europe. looked againe, seems like you have to buy maps, Mapyx Quo provides all Ordnance Survey Maps at very competitive prices. | |

| Hello, when people say that its not cheap, they brought from the wrong place, its the cheapest setup there is cheap mapping software that works, also if you have a smart phone mapping software using the GPS on your phone costs between 0.60 and £6. and a dongle from ebay at £1.99 if you need, i never use GPS as i can read a map, but then i prefer maps to satnavs but this is me
if you can't find the cheap software that worls send me a PM with what you need and ill point you in the right direction
cheers kieran | |
