First Aid Training, is it necessary? is it beneficial? and is it worth the money?

Every year all our companies in the group undertake a day of first aid training so every employee has basic First Aid training, other go on to take additional qualifications, and over the years this has been beneficial for many employees at work and at home, many claim its not worth spending this amount on employees, I disagree.

In 2011 alone 14 employees potentially saved other peoples lives, many were the result of car accidents while many were travelling the considerable mileages they do, others were accidents on sites, and some were incidents at home.

Should First Aid be put on the school curriculum as a compulsory subject so all school children are taught basic first aid and updated annually so we have the next generations who are fully aware of what to do, and how to keep people alive.

Yes, I think it would be a great idea to give basic First Aid Training in school. It needn't be boring or intensive either.
