Hello from N.Kent Empty
PostSubject: Hello from N.Kent   Hello from N.Kent EmptyMon Jun 06, 2011 3:49 am

Hi all,

Came across the site and have had a little look through so thought I'd sign up and say hello. Not new to forums as I use them for my bikes as well as when I had my VW. (Pic below)

Since having my VW van stolen from my drive (the scum broke in and took the key mad), the long haired general and I have decided that we want a Land Rover Defender 110 TD5. With the short term plan of doing some UK bound trips for a year or two before venturing further afield to somewhere like Morocco.

Have to go for the TD5 as I'm only a couple of miles outside the London Low Emission zone. I don't drive into town often but certainly don't want to fork out £100 when I do.

Going for Land Rover over other makes as I used, abused and feel in love with them when I was in the army. I'm not hugely machanical but have a couple of good mates who are.

The Landy wont be used as a daily as such as she has a Saab and I get use of a work pool car and have a couple of motor bikes. So it'll mainly be used for trips, a bit of green laning/off roading as well as getting us about in the snow.

Any ways, that's me. I look forward to being an owner in the near future and maybe catching up with some of you at some local events (to start with) cheers1

Likewise - welcome! cheers

North Kent eh ... whereabouts? I ask as I'm originally from Borough of Bromley, but now living in the Midlands as a way of reducing my fuel bill. Living just one mile from the M6, if I time it right I have easy access to anywhere in the country. Get the timing wrong and ... affraid affraid affraid

That was a nice van. Never mind, I'm sure you'll purchase something interesting with the insurance payout. As you say, hopefully we can meet up at some point. Will have a Trade Stand at LRO Show at Billing next month for instance, will you be going?

Hi,

Check body type description on the V5, you can buy 300tdi and have no problems enter LEZ.

Quote from the TFL website:-

"Light 4x4 utility vehicles

There are many types of light 4x4 utility vehicle. It is their classification (decided by the manufacturer and the European Union) that determines whether they're affected by the LEZ or not.

Light 4x4 utility vehicles classed as cars are not affected by the LEZ. Those classed as commercial vehicles are subject to the LEZ. This can be found on a VSC registration certificate under 'Body Type.'"

similar dilema as Thor - intitial check shows mine is not exempt and the nearest LEZ is less than 1/2mile away.

What/where is this VSC certificate? Have checked on the V5 but not mention of body.

Thanks

Steve
