Hello,
Ive always wanted to overland, always had the vehicle and the time just not the drive. Now the prospect of kiddies is looming I think I owe it to myself and the wife to get out there an explore ourselfs.

I think i will take 2 weeks out this summer and go to the pyreneese or Andalucía. As it's my first time I will probably go with a company. I would like to do a week going for it and then some time to pamper the mrs, or day on day off sort of thing.

Any advice always welcome.
I would like to take a ferry down to save on deisel cost and wear and tear and monotony of motorways.

Anyway hello, and I think I will be checking out this forum alot before I head off.

cheers Robin

Give him a chance, don't think he's had any yet! Sounds as if he just wants to venture forth before he gets tied down, don't blame him.

Welcome Robin. cheers

Robin - regarding your summer break, by all means post what your requirements are in the Companies (commercial) section of the forum. There are already some overland specialists in this section, plus I know for a fact that others view this forum. Here they will tell you what tours they provide and maybe if they don't cover the places you want to go, provide some recommendations. It also keeps the rest of the forum clear of commercial stuff, leaving us to get on with general waffle ... we're good at that!!! Wink

Up to you entirely.

Welcome to the Forum !! ... (a little late I know!)

one of the most beautiful places in teh Europe I've driven is around the French Alps, the campsite is right at teh top of a mountain and the views are just stunning.

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g562747-d1157019-r70040850-Camping_Les_Domes_de_Miage-St_Gervais_les_Bains_Haute_Savoie_Rhone_Alpes.html

Also .. you can go "green laning" after 6pm, we did some extreme stuff a couple of years ago, to be met by a 2wd Fiat Panda coming the other way .. what we considered to be quite hairy, was run of the mill to the locals!

Anyway food for thought!
