Mali is Safe

Just got back from four months over-landing in W.Africa and spent a month in Mali. Gendarme escort from the borer of Mauritania to Nioro and then onto Bamako. Then travelled alone northwards visiting Segou, Djenne, Timbucto and Dogon Country: absolutely safe.

Local people and officials very friendly. 50% of the nights I pulled off into the bush and slept in my Hilux Surf, completely safe.

Needless to say, Western Sahara and Mauritania too were safe as houses.
