Thieves Empty
PostSubject: Thieves   Thieves EmptySun Aug 30, 2015 2:08 pm

Friday saw me finishing early so I could look at a couple of BMW 840's on my way home as we had a lorry coming past empty which would bring them back, the deal was done and I got them for a song as they needed a lot of bodywork doing, but were pretty straight mechanically with only some minor jobs needing doing. Daughter picked up on something from the other half and when I got home around 3 pm closely followed by the lorry daughter and grandson were waiting for me, as soon as they were offloaded grandson was in them and had them both running allegedly to warm them up so HE could examine them, by the time I went in and got changed and went into the barn they were both on the ramps and daughter and grandson were under them and found a transmission fluid leak which grandson suddenly informed me was a common problem as the cooler is bolted to the radiator and it chafes the ATF cooler pipe which is aluminium.

Yes dear boy I know as I have an 850 and it had the same problem so I modified the mounting and repaired the ATF cooler.

Having been called away to deal with a problem, I was on the phone until nearly 5 o clock and by the time I got back into the barn they had removed both nosecones which were damaged (common problem) and on the bench being ground out by daughter ready for repairing, grandson had ground most of the paint of all the dents to spot weld keys on for the puller to attach and pull them out. Then the shock announcement, daughter and grandson had bagged the red one and decided they were having it for themselves, never "can I have one" or by your leave or kiss my arse, just I'm having this one. Bloody thieves, she's already nicked an M635 CSI I bought for spares for mine, and these were supposed to be my bank holiday project as I had hoped to lock myself away restoring them and screw the rest of the world for just one weekend.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to bring them up with cars as they nick your cars and your weekend project where all you want to do is lock yourself away from business and everything else and totally relax and just restore some cars.

Yep, you have it spot on, it's all self-inflicted. Bring 'em up to be petrolheads, what do you expect?

Nah, chip off the old block, at least it's a 'nice' headache.
