Thats a shame. We can't make it this years as we will be driving around the Aegean Sea (our first foray into Asia) and wont be back in time.

It was a very enjoyable weekend, last year, and I hope it continues to be a success.

Touring the Aegean is a pretty good reason.

That'll be good, more the merrier! With a decent crew we have a good laugh leading up to the weekend, so you'll be a welcome addition.

What day are you getting there to set up ?

Ralf & I will be there from the Monday before, as will a couple of others, as we realised it was a pleasant week - the calm before the storm so to speak - but you obviously get there when you can.

Crossing fingers yes, but "Holding thumbs", that's a new one on me. Strange breed these SAs/Vikings!

Here's some news that will please forum members - why not get a few together and pop over to Germany in October?

Over a 2 week period you could attend Adventure Overland Show, Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse (26-27 Sept 2015) as part of a "4x4 Overland Travel Forum" Display Stand

... then explore the delights of Northern France, Belgium or Holland for 3 or 4 days

... then attend Adventure Northside, Vethem 58, near Walsrode, Northwest Germany (2-4 Oct 2015) with another "4x4 Overland Travel Forum" display - this would be free entry for all members who previously attended Stratford Racecourse!

In a nutshell, you only pay for one show! The following Press Release explains:-

Featuring 4x4 campervans, adventure bikes, expedition trucks and bushcraft/survival, Western Europe will play host to two major overland exhibitions in 2015 ... "Adventure Overland Show" at Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse, England (26-27 September 2015) and its sister event "Adventure Northside", Vethem 58, near Walsrode, Northwest Germany (2-4 October 2015).

Great website Tom, had a good nose around it. I was wondering when we were going to start seeing some movement towards getting ready.

We have another trip video from the April Morocco trip ready for a presentation if you want. I also recall volunteering to do a seminar on travel security/planning. Let me know if there is interest in either.

Thanks. It was a big step but had to take it. The original was okay for 2011/12, but always looked amateurish (that's because I am exactly that when it comes to technology), so it had to be modernised and look more professional. Think I'm getting there!

Absolutely to the idea of travel security/planning. I wanted to get my head around all this new software first, so have been experimenting  by slowly adding the seminar speakers who have already sent me a description of where they have been, construction of their transport, etc. Now I'm getting used to it and know I won't cock it up (amazing for me), I can ask you to do the same. 5 Photos and text is what I require, please email to me via 4x4trading@talk21.com

Basically I want to achieve two things - the travel security/planning idea is great. That would cover an hour of one day, but I am also seeking somebody who could take on the task of a presentation the second day featuring navigation ... focusing on GPS. So many folk can't work a NatNav properly, myself included if I'm honest, so I reckon this could be really beneficial. I know you have the knowledge, but if for any reason you feel you can't, then I shall look elsewhere. There are some really knowledgeable people out there when it comes to these things, so no problem if you can't.

Perhaps I should ask Gary (wideformat4x4) to take on navigation/GPS, he can then mention his 4x4 tours in the process?

Anyway, always open to ideas from anybody.

I will get on to the 5 photos and details for a security/planning session today. But as for GPS nav I would not be a god choice as I am still a map and compass kind of guy.

You wouldn't be a "god" choice! No problem oh divine one.

As it happens, I had a mate I've known for years contact me the other day, he actually a 4x4 journalist, who offered to hold a talk. He suggested a number of subjects, and blow me down, one of them was GPS ... so sorted!

Got a new layout this year, have to say it's looking good and filling nicely.

There will be more of everything this year - more expedition trucks, more variety of 4x4 vehicles (i.e. LandCruiser Club, Jeep Club, etc.) the Seminar Sessions room had been tripled in size (it was not only standing room only last year, they were also 3 deep in the exits!) more foreign traders (Holland, Germany, Switzerland), Severn Cider back running the popular beer tent with two good bands Friday and Saturday nights. Add all this together, you have the makings of an even better event than last year.
