Spanning all aspects of travel, sport, adventure activities and leisure vehicles, the show does not limit itself solely to local/regional products and services, but international clothing traders, bushcraft, holidays and overseas adventure tours.

Bloody hell Tom---You are really on a roll now-------the way you are going, a big company will offer you a six figure sum for your 'empire' you would find hard to resist:clapping: --------then what would you do with all that spare time (and money?????)----------I reckon you might just travel a bit:lol: ---there still must bit bits of our Globe you would like to visit (re-visit).

Yep, just like yourselves, I'll work my butt off then reap the rewards and travel. Only difference is, I wouldn't want to sell up. Instead I would appoint a Manager or Managers to run each show, then I could simply fly back to enjoy the shows as a punter ... something I've always said I'd love to do. No stress, just stroll around and see friends/mates/business acquaintances, may even find time to have a beer or three, you never know.

All this will only work of course if I can manage to hold on to the venues, something that in 17 years I've never managed to achieve as they've either been sold to new owners, or a host of other reasons beyond my control. That's where Lady Luck plays her part, it's something we all need at times.

Big news! As mentioned above, MTOLS (the Midlands Travel & Outdoor Leisure Show) 24-25 September 2015 at Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse is no more. This was because of two main reasons -

1. A major competitor has suddenly appeared on the horizon. Not only is their event virtually identical, they also have loads of wonga so are able to attract big name speakers (i.e. Sir Ranulph Fiennes) meaning that we would have been on a hiding to nothing trying to compete. Financially we couldn't have come anywhere close to their buying power, nor their massive advertising budget. Basically, if I'm going to launch a new event, it has to be worthy of the name ... otherwise what's the point? I really couldn't settle for second best!

2. As it happens, at precisely the same time we found out about this rival show, an events company based in Stratford-upon-Avon were enquiring if it was possible to book the racecourse in order to stage a Christmas Fayre (you guessed it) on the very same weekend as MTOLS ... 24-25 September 2015. So, this being the case, knowing that there would be a ready-made audience arriving at the racecourse anyway, Ralf & I put our thinking caps on to see if we could hold a show or exhibition in the grandstands complex that would be compatible with a Christmas Fayre. That way we could pull off their audience and visa versa - but what?

Toys, Christmas foods, crafts, gifts??? Whatever we thought of, the Christmas Fayre would already have, so we'd be simply treading on their toes and competing for the same type of trader; not good.  Then the eureka moment occurred. It was Ralf who came up with the idea, fair play to him, for it was IMHO truly inspirational. The result is a replacement event we have just launched entitled ...

How different is that, not a 4x4 in sight?  And yes, in case you're confused, it will still be held weekend of 24-25 October 2015.

There seems to be some confusion over events and dates.

Can you confirm AO15 is still going on and the dates on this thread are incorrect ?

Easy ... once you know how!

If you're ever in doubt, log on to www.4x4calendar.co.uk  The dates of all the events on there are set in stone, but if an organiser (including myself) ever postpones or cancels and event, often 4x4Calendar will be the first to publish any corrections or amendments - usually with an explanation why the event is not taking place or why it's been moved.

As for the Adventure Overland Show at Stratford-upon Avon Racecourse, this is always the last weekend of September - this year it's the 26-27 Sept 2015.
