| Hi mac, nice write up,,,just a few points,,,,,next time your down this way drop in for tea,,,,,we are starting morocco trips in feb,,,check out tugs4x4.com ,,,,france in a terrible drive 90+quid for tolls and the cost of fuel,,you are better taking the new ferry thats starting from portsmouth or plymouth brittany ferries ..ok its a bit more expensive but you have a cabin and a days cruise,,and if you count the costs ferry dover - calias return fuel return tolls return and over night stop,,,,, you pretty much spent what the ferry costs,,,allso when you get to either santander or bilbao you hit the west coast road the A62 -A66 which is all motorway and only one small toll 6 euros at sevilla and drops you right into algecerias and its a great scenic road,,,and misses out madrid,,,aaahhhh,,, i have rough camped in morroco and mostly found it ok just have to pick your spot,,,but in chefchoen theres a great little site at the top and it costs 5 quid a night and if i remember correctly they only charged me for 2 nights instead of three,,,,but you have toilets shower and a small resturaunt,,,i think it was 4 dirrum for a beef targine and it was great,,,,,safe and quiet,,,,,, also i would reccomend a raised air intake as your air filter tends to get quite clogged after a lot of dust driving,,,should be shaken out every night after a good days off roading,,,,,but hi air intake cuts it down quite a lot,,,, |

Whats this about the new ferry though? Last time I talked to the ferry companies, those routes have plans to be discontinued. I quite like the drive down to Spain though, would rather be sitting in my landie driving then sitting on the ferry, even if its the same cost!
I also never found camping a problem - wild camping is the best, solo or not.
Yup deffo recommend raised air intake too, havn't ever found mine to be clogged up. |

| Thanks for the invite Tugg..... may take you up on that this year.
I met up with at a mate of mine in Estepona which cannot be millions of miles from you on our last trip.
I will certainly have a snorkel next time, and probrably a roof tent.
We will be using the ferry next time. It will bore me to destruction, but so does the motorways. |

| This was our first trip which involved exploring in remote areas. had lots of camping trips before in France, but that's about it.
You wont spend much money more going to Morocco....Once you are there...it is as cheap as chips. You will also get the overland feeling that the Alps could not give. Although the Alps are very nice. |

| Did you ever work out a rough cost for trip? What does everyone think would be a sensible amount of money for such an expedition for 2 people? |
