British 4x4 convoy to Abenteuer & Allrad Show 18-23 June 2014, Bad Kissingen, Germany

I have decided to coordinate a convoy of 4x4 vehicles to the Abenteuer & Allrad (Adventure Wheel) Show 2014, Bad Kissingen, Germany. We've been talking about it for a while now, so let's do it!

Dates: Wednesday 18th to Monday 23rd June 2014.

Travel arrangements: "A ferry" ... although haven't worked out the best one yet! "A route" - most direct? Again, those interested will work a route out later.

We'd be up for that.  Got a pretty direct route and camp sites we used on our last run over there that would work if you allow two or three days to get there.  No point rushing when the German beer and wine is so cheap
We use Dover- Dunkirk P&O, was only £90 return.

Was thinking of a little quicker than 2-3 days to get there, then again we can go over 40mph!

We will probably go out on the Sunday and make a bit of a holiday out of it, 1200 mile round trip in the truck becomes an expensive weekend.

mmm. That's a thought. Either way planning to make the trip and in convoy might be an idea?

I do have 3 days to get there booked off work but..........

Just a quick message for Twende. As you have made the trip before could you suggest routes to take and campsites that you would recommend (or not recommend)? Any idea's appreciated

Just join up with Twende Dave, that way you won't need to know about routes - plus of course we'll have the makings of two convoys heading over there. We'll reserve a couple of pitches alongside us, so when you arrive the beer will be cold, the tea hot; simples!

You'll notice I've given us time to recuperate after Stratford before tackling Germany? A cunning plan!  

Seems like a couple of guys from the Land Cruiser Owners' Club are interested in joining our little convoy  ... or two. It's building!  

tom trying to put my calendar together for next year,,,looks like i will be in europe for bad kiss and then 6-8 weeks in scadanavia doing norway,sweden,denmark, and finland doing the land rover events and see if i can get a couple of days with the guys on the run to the midnight sun..:shock: ..so two months of 24 hour daylight or there abouts,,,,, 

If anyone wants to join the 80kph Convoy   I'll probably be catching the ferry Dover-Dunkirk on Sunday morning 15th June.  First stop in Grimbergen, camp site north of Brussels (just off the ring) Monday on to Dillengurg, another camp site located in a Pine forest just off the Autobahn then on the BK site on the Tuesday.  Can stretch it out and have another stop on route if preferred.
It's great to get there early and watch all the kit coming in, also, if the weather is better next year, it's great to walk around the site.

So Tom, shall we rope out a section for the 200kph convoy

I seem to remember you having to fly off this year because you had double booked

Yes the HUBB is 19/20 of June. They have done it later this year.

Yes I thought that was the case, is Tom not having a stand at the HUBB this year ?

I must admit a German trip does appeal to me, I think June is filling up fast though Land Rover live
7th / 8th my ex business partners Stag do 13th till 15th then I could possible do Bad Kiss leaving on the 16th till the 23rd then back to france for the Le Mans classic 2nd of July.

Well thats June sorted just need to sort out the rest of the year now

Do not think he can be in tow places at the same time.

Yes, unfortunately both HUBB and Bad Kissingen have moved their dates on by a couple of weeks from end of May to the very same weekend in June, so yet again they clash. Me, I'm off to Germany, so book that space Twende!

I am hoping to have a presence at HUBB for ADVENTURE OVERLAND, we'll know for sure early in the New Year.

Just wondering if anyone has made any further plans regarding the A & A show be it as a group or indepandant travelling. I'm hoping to begin planning routes, places to stop etc over the festive period whilst I have time on my hands.

Unimogs are good, but like all 4x4's, keeping them light is the key. Either that of have a dirty great big orange 'n' black M.A.N on call at all times!

Keep watching this vid. At 4 mins the action goes a bit quite, but after 5 mins it picks up again. All sorts of 4x4 get stuck, it's only that brutal-looking yellow 6x6 that looks at ease in the mud. As for the G-Wagen right at the end, the speed he was going meant that whatever was around that righthand turn, he was sure to hit ... the yellow 6x6???
