| Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and new to over landing.... My group consists of me, my 2 boys and my slightly loopy dog... We have a Mitsubishi L200 with a hard top canopy. Our first overland trip is in June, we are going into France to stay in a treehouse for a week. After camping with a friend at the weekend who has a Landy with a roof tent I am seriously considering getting one but I'm not sure which type to go for... Any suggestions and advice from you lovely people would be welcomed.... I've heard you are a friendly bunch.......!! Look forward to chatting to you Rach :-) xx

| Not sure how much we'll know about tree-houses (then again, they are up in the clouds and that's where the heads of a good number of us normally reside ), but 4x4 campers are another matter entirely. Welcome Rachel! | |

| What Rach has not mentioned, is this trip she is going on, is her first time ever driving on the wrong side of the road! The tree house has been a dream holiday for her and her kids, but as she mentioned if she bolted on a roof tent then the world awaits! I have bored her to death with stories of fun in Morocco, Alps and Tunisia (minus the boulder that jumped out in front of me), and I have recommended she reads the Overlanding Manual by Chris Scott. As you know Rachel I like my Howling Moon roof tent, but everyone has their own opinion. Just have a look around and talk to people at the AO14 show, and see what works for you. I do warn you....... People on here certainly are not 'normal'....... | |

I wouldn't bank on it lol Just a thought but the vehicle you described would I be right in thinking the rear is a fibreglass construction ? If so you may have a problem fitting a roof tent not sure how sturdy the rear would be an option may be fitting an exterior roll cage then fitting a roof rack or roof bars to that. | |
