PostSubject: Hi from Rach :-)   Hi from Rach :-) EmptyTue May 06, 2014 7:13 pm

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this site and new to over landing....
My group consists of me, my 2 boys and my slightly loopy dog... We have a Mitsubishi L200 with a hard top canopy.
Our first overland trip is in June, we are going into France to stay in a treehouse for a week.
After camping with a friend at the weekend who has a Landy with a roof tent I am seriously considering getting one but I'm not sure which type to go for...
Any suggestions and advice from you lovely people would be welcomed.... I've heard you are a friendly bunch.......!!
Look forward to chatting to you
Rach :-) xx

Hi and welcome,  clinking teacups

You will find people on here have other motors beside's Land rovers, and will give you lots of advice.
Then up to you to decide, try and look at the diferant type's, and see what suits you, am sure you will enjoy your tree house.  Smile

Not sure how much we'll know about tree-houses (then again, they are up in the clouds and that's where the heads of a good number of us normally reside  Rolling Eyes ), but 4x4 campers are another matter entirely.

Welcome Rachel!  cheers

What Rach has not mentioned, is this trip she is going on, is her first time ever driving on the wrong side of the road!  affraid
The tree house has been a dream holiday for her and her kids, but as she mentioned if she bolted on a roof tent then the world awaits!  cheers
I have bored her to death with stories of fun in Morocco, Alps and Tunisia (minus the boulder that jumped out in front of me), and I have recommended she reads the Overlanding Manual by Chris Scott.

As you know Rachel I like my Howling Moon roof tent, but everyone has their own opinion. Just have a look around and talk to people at the AO14 show, and see what works for you.
I do warn you....... People on here certainly are not 'normal'.......  lol!

Thanks everyone......
My ticket for the AO14 show has been booked and paid for...... I am really looking forward to see what options I have.
..... And as for people on here not being normal,... I think I'll fit in quite nicely then! ;-)

I wouldn't bank on it lol  Very Happy

Just a thought but the vehicle you described would I be right in thinking the rear is a fibreglass construction ?
If so you may have a problem fitting a roof tent not sure how sturdy the rear would be an option may be fitting an exterior roll cage then fitting a roof rack or roof bars to that.

Hi Rachel,

Last time we booked tree houses for a holiday we turned up and it was three terraced houses, then again, we were in Ireland  doh

Bye the way, "not normal" don't know what you're talking about!!!!!!

See you at AO14
