Hi Everyone,

I have been over landing for a few years but never in the past joined a group like this. I am hoping to share experiences and get recommendations for future trips.

I drive a Fortuner D4D 4x4 and tow a custom built offroad trailer built by Alu-Star.

We always travel as a family with our 2 daughters now aged 9 and 6. Our more recent longer excursions include Namibia, the Kalaghadi, the Richtersveld, Kruger, Mapumgbwe and Marakele. We are also try and camp at least once a month at various campsites within 2-4 hours out of Cape Town.

Anywhere with wide open space and natural beauty is on our to visit list.

Your children are at exactly the right age to start really enjoying trips, any younger than 6 can be a pain for them and for you. That said, some kids take to vehicles like a duck to water, but even so it's much more fun from 6 and above.

Like the ma says, sounds as if you're in the right part of the world to really appreciate your surroundings. Make the best of it, it's cold, wet 'n' windy over here in the UK at the moment, bet you are in a short sleeve shirt as we speak.
